They configure routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. They coordinate LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. ACBN Network Administrators provide support for cryptographic devices under Government purview, to include monitor, manage, upgrade and rekey devices that fall under the U-A/A6 MPE program.\nProvide network infrastructure support (technical control), including, but not limited to:\nPoint-to-point installs and maintenance.\n\nLong-haul circuit management and operations.\n\nLoading circuit encryption equipment.\n\nManaging any network cable patching that may be required.\n\nCyber Transport:\nResponsible for voice, video, and data transport systems within the boundary.\n\nOperate, maintain, and configure routers/switches/voice systems/VoIP/video bridges, Information Transfer Nodes (ITNs), communications closet wiring.\n\nMaintain Network Encryption devices.\n\nOperate, maintain, install, align, repair, key, and remove routers, crypto, switches, and modems.\n\nResponsible for LAN line activation and troubleshooting from the wiring closet or communication node to the end user device on existing cable.\n\nNetwork Administration Support:\nDeploy, configure, maintain, and monitor active data network or converged infrastructure environments and related network equipment.\n\nManage and maintain the Wide Area Network (WAN)/LAN infrastructure.\n\nProvide support in the deployment and configuration of comprehensive routing and switching network designs.\n\nMonitor network issues and outages in accordance with directives and guidelines.\n\nTroubleshoot, implement, and provide configuration of network hardware and software.\n\nMonitor, maintain and troubleshoot network devices.\n\nAnalyze functional problems and determine techniques/requirements feasible for expedited solutions.\n\nApply best practices in compliance with DISA guidelines.\n\nUtilize network management tools (i.e., SolarWinds) to monitor, evaluate, and report health statistics of WAN/LAN.\n\nProvide technical support to troubleshoot and resolve network outages as needed.\n\nASIs & Outages\nSubmit ASIs in accordance with SPIN-C and local organizational requirements.\n\nNotify all potentially affected customers of planned network outages.\n\nRespond to outages during and after duty hours.\n\nCoordinate with appropriate higher-level organizations.\n\nDocument issues, fix actions, and provide an update to the MCCC once the outage has been resolved.\n\nExperience: Requires a minimum of six years’ experience, of which at least four years must be specialized experience in operating, maintaining and monitoring communications networks.\nEducation: BA/BS in computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software engineering/programming, management, natural sciences, social sciences, mathematics, or business/finance.\nEducation and experience requirements may be substituted with:\nA master’s degree (in subjects described above) and three years’ general experience of which at least two years must be specialized experience. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location.
