Every day, your skills will directly impact programs that matter.\n We are currently seeking an Intermediate Systems Engineer to join our Land Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC5ISR) team, supporting the delivery of advanced Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities for the Canadian Army.\nIn this role, you will contribute to the design, development, integration and validation of complex systems that enable military communications, situational awareness and operational decision-making.\nWorking within a multidisciplinary Agile engineering team, you will take ownership of assigned systems engineering activities, develop technical solutions and collaborate with hardware and software engineers to deliver integrated tactical capabilities.\nIf you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, exploring emerging technologies and contributing to systems that make a real-world impact, we encourage you to apply.\nThe following are typical responsibilities:\nAnalyze and decompose complex technical problems into achievable engineering solutions.\nDevelop and maintain system and subsystem requirements, ensuring alignment with operational needs and technical specifications.\nDesign and document system architectures, operational concepts, use cases and interfaces.\nDevelop architecture models using frameworks such as DnDAF and tools such as Enterprise Architect.\nManage requirements, traceability and engineering documentation using tools such as IBM DOORS.\nCollaborate with software, hardware and integration teams to support the development of fully integrated ISTAR capabilities.\nPlan and execute assigned system integration, verification and validation activities.\nInvestigate system defects, conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.\nEvaluate new technologies and develop prototypes to assess their potential integration into existing capabilities.\nParticipate in technical reviews, design discussions and engineering decision-making.\nSupport Agile planning activities, including coordinating technical deliverables and feature development.\nSupport demonstrations, external validation activities and field trials.\nIdentify opportunities to improve engineering processes, system performance and technical solutions.\nProvide technical guidance and knowledge-sharing support to junior engineering team members\n What You Need to Have to Succeed\nBachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent education and experience.\n2-4 years of relevant professional experience in systems engineering or a related technical discipline, with demonstrated experience in requirements development, system design, integration, or verification and validation.\nProfessional experience applying systems engineering principles throughout the development lifecycle.\nExperience developing and managing system or subsystem requirements.\nExperience contributing to system design, architecture, integration, verification or validation activities.\nAbility to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions with a reasonable level of independence.\nUnderstanding of hardware and software systems and their integration within complex technical environments.\nStrong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to manage multiple technical priorities and deliver engineering tasks within established schedules.\nExperience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nWhat Makes You Stand Out:\nExperience developing system architectures using DnDAF, DoDAF or similar frameworks.\nExperience with Enterprise Architect or comparable system modelling tools.\nExperience with IBM DOORS or other requirements management tools.\nFamiliarity with IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM/RTC), ClearQuest or Code Collaborator.\nKnowledge of networking and communications technologies, including VLANs and routing.\nExperience with complex systems integration or system-of-systems engineering.\nExperience working with software-intensive systems.\nExposure to Agile development methodologies.\nExperience supporting field trials, system demonstrations or external validation events.\nKnowledge of defence systems, military communications, tactical networks or ISTAR technologies.\n What We Offer\nThe hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $88,000 CAD annual.\nOur goal is to provide a fair and competitive offer based on an assessment of internal equity and your qualifications, including:\nRelevant experience\nTechnical and non-technical skills\nEducation and certifications\nOur Benefits:\nAt General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada, we prioritize work-life balance.
