{"id":3118505,"url":"https://alion.io/job/general-dynamics-mission-systems-component-engineer-dmsms-support-specialist","title":"Component Engineer – DMSMS Support Specialist","company":{"id":1836162,"name":"General Dynamics Mission Systems","domain":"gdmissionsystems.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/gdmissionsystems-com","size_band":"1001-5000","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"iCIMS","truth_index":{"grade":"A","score":100,"open_postings":3,"ghost_share":0,"stale_share":0,"repost_share":0,"time_to_fill_p50_days":11,"computed_at":"2026-10-27T05:46:45Z"}},"role":"Industrial Engineering","role_family":"Industrial Engineering","seniority":"junior","employment_type":null,"work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Scottsdale, United States"],"countries":["US"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":{"min":90359,"max":97771,"currency":"USD","period":"year","gross":null,"usd_annual":97771},"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":2,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[{"name":"Microsoft Office","optional":false}],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-22T23:18:30Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-22","last_verified_at":"2026-10-27T17:58:06Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":4,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":4},"description":"Basic Qualifications\nBachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, plus 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.\nDue to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.\nResponsibilities for this Position\nKey Responsibilities\nMonitor component life cycles, supplier product change notices (PCNs), obsolescence notices, and material availability using SiliconExpert, Accuris/IHS, or similar tools.\nProcess BOMs and serve as a point of contact for internal customers on BOM requirements, formatting, schedules, and priorities.\nValidate BOM quality, decode GDMS/SCD part numbers to manufacturer and orderable part numbers; identify incomplete or conflicting manufacturer data.\nAssess DMSMS risks and their effects on design, production, and sustainment.\nPrepare standardized DMSMS and end-of-life reports, including potential alternate parts or sources, last-time buys, and redesign recommendations.\nPrepare customer and contract required deliverables, including quarterly DMSMS roadmaps, BOM health summaries, status reports, and CDRL inputs.\nEvaluate proposed replacements for form, fit, function, performance, and qualification requirements.\nWork with engineering, procurement, suppliers, quality, and program teams to implement approved solutions.\nMaintain parts information, risk assessments, and resolution status; communicate risks and progress to stakeholders.\nDistinguish basic model numbers from orderable part numbers and understand how manufacturers control product configurations.\nDetermine whether parts are governed by military, National Aerospace Standards, NEMA, or other industry specifications, or identified by commercial manufacturer part numbers.\nPrepare customer and contract required deliverables, including quarterly DMSMS roadmaps, BOM health summaries, status reports, and CDRL inputs.\nRequired Qualifications\nExperience working with supply chain teams and manufacturers on end-of-life and obsolescence issues.\nAbility to interpret component specifications, manufacturer data sheets, notices, and other technical documentation.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including data analysis, filters, pivots and report preparation \nProficiency with product data management applications such as GDMS EPDM-Windchill, CIMA, or similar systems. \nKnowledge of electrical and electronic components and mechanical hardware.\nStrong analytical, organizational, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage concurrent tasks independently.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience managing DMSMS issues for complex systems or long-life products.\nFamiliarity with component life-cycle data, parts databases, and BOMs. Experience with SiliconExpert, Accuris/IHS Markit, GIDEP, or similar tools.\nExperience evaluating alternate components and supporting engineering changes.\nExperience in aerospace, defense, or another regulated industry.\nExperience participating in integrated product teams and presenting DMSMS status, risk, and recommended actions to program teams or customers.\nSalary Note\nThis estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
