Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.\nResponsibilities for this Position\nThe Deputy Program Manager, Engineering (DPME) is responsible for overseeing engineering projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. The role involves managing engineering resources, resolving technical issues, and maintaining project schedules and budgets. The DPME also plays a key role in risk management, performance feedback, and project change management.\nREPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:\nPlans, authorizes, and monitors the engineering work (including providing strong leadership to ensure all events occur as planned)\nStaffs the project team (along with Director of Engineering) with the appropriate engineering personnel\nFosters cross-functional collaboration and builds project consensus\nOversees performance, cost, scope and schedule for all engineering efforts (including efforts that are subcontracted)\nEnsures that total system requirements are validated\nEnsures that total system is integrated, tested and verified\nEnsures all project deliverables (including documentation) are developed with high quality and delivered on time\nDevelops and maintains engineering plans as required by the project\nManages the engineering related risks and opportunities of the project\nDevelops and manages the project change management process\nEnsures that all engineering processes to be used adhere to established engineering practices\nManages engineering resources (e.g. staff assignments, capital equipment, etc.), organizational interfaces, and engineering scope\nIdentifies, develops, analyzes, and reports engineering project measures\nConducts monthly engineering status reviews and provides material for the monthly program reviews\nImplements effective corrective actions as required\nManages the resolution of technical issues, communicates the resolution to all affected parties, and ensures that the resolution is carried out in all of the affected artifacts.\nConducts lessons learned after each major phase of the project\nScope of projects are usually large (>$50M) and or have large engineering teams (>50)\nMotivates the engineering team and provides a clear understanding of project goals\nRewards the team members that drive the success of the project\nProvides performance feedback and management for the project team\nTakes immediate & decisive action in dealing with technical & performance issues\nLeads large proposals with identification of cross business unit strengths and technical shortcoming\nKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:\nTremendous leadership skills\nProven team building and motivation skills\nProven conflict resolution and negotiation skills\nProven problem solving skills in complex environments\nRecognized internally and externally as an expert in project management\nTremendous ability to apply or develop highly advanced technologies, principles, theories and concepts\nTremendous understanding of company policies and practices\nTremendous understanding of engineering processes and practices\nTremendous planning and organization skills\nTremendous knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of tools and Microsoft Project\nTremendous knowledge of various project life cycles including agile\nTremendous ability to communicate issues, impacts, and corrective actions\nTremendous ability to easily and effectively communicate project topics to a diverse audience\nTremendous ability to clearly report relevant information\nTremendous ability to understand and apply project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls for large complex programs\nTremendous ability to anticipate technology, process, and skill needs\nDemonstrates proactive leadership and has name recognition throughout both the company and customer organizations\nCreates an environment in which impact of technology on the business is clearly recognized\nIdentifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation\nWorkplace Options:\nThis position will require you to report onsite at our Bloomington, MN facility with occassional ability to work from home.
