Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.\nResponsibilities for this Position\nGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer to support the Tactical Control System (TCS) Program. In this role, you will contribute to the development, integration, testing, and maintenance of software supporting mission-critical capabilities. You will work alongside experienced engineers to solve technical problems, build reliable software, and grow your skills in a collaborative team environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain software using C++ and Java in a Linux environment.\nParticipate in software design, implementation, code reviews, and testing.\nTroubleshoot software issues and support integration and defect resolution.\nDevelop unit tests and maintain technical documentation.\nCollaborate with software, systems, and test engineers to implement and verify requirements.\nLearn and apply team coding standards, development tools, and software engineering practices.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.\nFoundational programming experience with C++ and Java, demonstrated through coursework, personal projects, internships, or professional experience.\nFamiliarity with Linux, including command-line tools and basic development workflows.\nUnderstanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and software debugging.\nStrong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.\nAbility to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience or familiarity with one or more of the following:\nJavaScript for web application development.\nPython or Bash for scripting and automation.\nDocker for containerized development and deployment.\nKubernetes for container orchestration.\n Spring Boot for Java-based application and service development.\nGit or other version-control tools.\nAutomated testing and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.\nExperience Level\nEntry level. Relevant academic projects, internships, and personal software projects are encouraged. Candidates are not expected to have experience with every preferred technology.\nWorkplace Options: This position is on site, with options for hybrid work after the first three months of onboarding.
