Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.\nResponsibilities for this Position\nROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:\nThe Deputy Program Manager, Engineering (DPME) is responsible for overseeing engineering projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and fostering cross-functional collaboration. The role involves managing engineering resources, resolving technical issues, and maintaining project schedules and budgets. The DPME also plays a key role in risk management, performance feedback, and project change management.\nThe successful candidate will be a hands-on technical leader with sufficient breadth across mechanical, electrical, electro-optical, software, hardware, and operational domains to augment or assume responsibility for a technical lead overseeing multiple engineering IPTs and programs.\nWhat You Will Do:\nLead the systems-engineering/project lifecycle including customer engagement, development of requirements, concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, deployment, and sustainment.\nElicit customer and user needs and distinguish operational needs from proposed solutions.\nOversee development of system architectures, operational concepts, requirements hierarchies, interfaces, technical baselines, and verification strategies.\nWork with program management to handle customer negotiations and manage interpersonal dynamics.\nApply project leadership principles, including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls for complex programs.\nAnticipate customer technology, process, and operational needs to develop mission critical solutions.\nLead technical, design, customer, and management reviews; brief technical status, decisions, risks, and recommendations at the level of detail appropriate to the audience.\nSupport proposals, technical volumes, basis-of-estimate development, technical risk assessments, and customer technical exchanges.\nMentor engineers, develop technical leaders, delegate responsibility intentionally, and distribute critical program knowledge across the team.\nDevelop and maintain engineering plans as required by the project.\nEnsure all project deliverables (including documentation) are developed with high quality and delivered on time.\nEnsure that all engineering processes adhere to established engineering practices.\nEnsure that total system is integrated, tested, and requirements are validated.\nIdentify, develop, analyze, and report engineering project measures internally and externally.\nMay manage direct reports and/or be assigned indirect reports for projects or programs.\nConduct lessons learned after each major phase of the project and implement effective corrective actions as required.\nManage the resolution of technical issues, communicate the resolution to all affected parties, and ensure that the resolution is carried out in all of the affected artifacts.\nMotivate the engineering team and provides a clear understanding of project goals.\nWhat sets you apart:\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly report relevant information and effectively convey project topics to diverse audiences.\nCreative thinker that is motivated to apply technical standards and methodologies to develop next generation solutions.\nCollaborative team leader with commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others.\nProven success leading the systems development life cycle including strong proficiency with requirements management and system modeling tools.\nStrong problem-solving skills in complex environments.\nProven organizational and time management skills.\nLeadership skills, including the ability to lead, motivate a team, and resolve conflicts.\nExperience applying digital-engineering and MBSE practices, including Cameo/MagicDraw and SysML concepts, to model the decisions, interfaces, behavior, risks, and traceability that need engineering control.\nOur Commitment to You:\nAn exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development.\nResearch oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation’s security\nFlexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)\nCompetitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health & wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and more\nSee more at gdmissionsystems.com/careers/why-work-for-us/benefits\nWorkplace Options:\nThis position is fully on-site or Hybrid/Flex.\nWhile on-site, you will be a part of the Florham Park NJ Team\nSalary Note\nThis estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
