Design and build the release process for our software products. Establish how versions are created, validated, promoted, and deployed across development, staging, and production environments.\nRelease automation. Develop and improve CI/CD workflows that make releases repeatable, observable, and low-risk. Define versioning conventions, release gates, approval paths, artifact handling, and deployment promotion practices.\nAutomated testing in the pipeline. Partner with software and AI engineers to build automated testing into delivery pipelines. Ensure unit, integration, regression, security, and other appropriate checks run consistently before software advances to the next environment.\nTesting rigor and quality gates. Help establish practical standards for test coverage, test reliability, and release readiness. Drive adoption of quality gates that catch issues early without creating unnecessary delivery friction.\nRelease coordination and traceability. Maintain clear visibility into what version is deployed in each environment, what changed between releases, and which validations were completed. Create release records that support troubleshooting, auditability, and informed decision-making.\nDeployment safety and rollback. Build and validate release and rollback procedures so teams can deploy confidently and recover quickly when a release does not perform as expected.\nWhat You Won't Own\nFeature development or product backlog prioritization.\nDay-to-day production operations and incident response.\nDefining business requirements.\nWhy This Role Matters\nWe are building a disciplined, automated way to release software across multiple teams. This role will turn releases from a collection of manual steps into a reliable engineering capability: tested, traceable, repeatable, and continuously improving.\nYou will work closely with engineers to make quality part of the delivery process itself. The goal is not gatekeeping. It helps teams move quickly because releases are well-tested, predictable, and easy to understand.\nIn a defense environment, release confidence matters. Knowing what was deployed, how it was validated, and how to recover from an issue is essential to secure and dependable software delivery.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field, plus 8 years of relevant experience.\nExperience building, operating, or improving CI/CD pipelines for production software.\nExperience with release engineering practices, including versioning, artifact management, environment promotion, release approvals, and rollback planning.\nExperience implementing automated testing in CI/CD pipelines, including unit, integration, regression, and security testing as appropriate.\nExperience with source control and CI/CD platforms such as Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.\nStrong understanding of software quality practices and the ability to translate testing expectations into practical pipeline controls.\nStrong documentation and cross-functional communication skills.\nU.S. citizenship required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting AI-enabled or data-intensive software systems.\nExperience in defense, aerospace, or another regulated environment.\nFamiliarity with infrastructure as code, including Terraform or CloudFormation.\nExperience with containerized delivery, container registries, and orchestration platforms.\nExperience introducing or maturing release engineering and software quality practices across multiple engineering teams.\nWhat Sets You Apart\nYou can take an inconsistent release process and turn it into a dependable, automated system.\nYou know how to increase testing rigor while keeping engineering teams productive.\nYou build pipelines that provide useful feedback, not just more steps.\nYou can answer what version is deployed, what changed, and what testing it passed.\nYou treat rollback as a planned capability, not an emergency improvisation.\nDetails\nRemote - 100% telework\n9/80 schedule\nDefense industry experience is not required\nSalary Note\nThis estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
