Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.\nResponsibilities for this Position\nROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:\nGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced Mechanical Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.\nREPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:\nLead the design and development of mechanical, thermal, thermodynamic, and heat-transfer solutions for high-performance electronics hardware for space systems applications\nCreate 3D mechanical models, detailed drawings, and associated design documentation using Creo and Windchill\nLead strategic engineering tasks and small to mid-sized projects, balancing technical performance, cost, schedule, manufacturability, and program objectives\nPlan, coordinate, and monitor engineering work from concept through delivery, including schedules, budgets, technical risks, and mitigation plans\nCollaborate with electrical, systems, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program teams to deliver solutions\nActively uncovers technical and organizational risks and ensures they are included in risk mitigation plans\nApply technical, government, and industry standards, along with manufacturing and fabrication methods, throughout the product lifecycle\nApply artificial intelligence responsibly to improve engineering processes, analyze information, and support design efficiency\nProvide technical recommendations to engineering and project leadership in support of program strategy and customer needs\nContribute to proposal development, project plans, program strategies, and teaming approaches\nMentor junior engineers in mechanical engineering principles, design practices, and project execution.\nCommunicate technical analyses, designs, and recommendations through clear technical documents, proposals, and presentations\nKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:\nStrong mechanical engineering experience with the ability to independently lead complex technical assignments\nShows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction\nProficiency with solid modeling CAD and product lifecycle management tools, particularly Creo and Windchill, to create, manage, and release mechanical models and detailed drawings\nKnowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, including materials, processes, tolerancing, and design-for-manufacturability principles\nExperience leading engineering projects or technical teams through product development and delivery\nSound engineering judgment and the ability to evaluate diverse technical factors to develop effective solutions\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing technical documents and proposals\nAbility to work effectively across technical and program disciplines\nProficient knowledge of technical standards, manufacturing/fabrication methods, government/industry standards\nAbility to quickly learn new technologies and execute with limited direction\nKnowledge in mechanical testing such as pyroshock, vibration and thermal vacuum testing\nProficient knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS)\nWhat sets you apart:\nStrong proficiency with modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings\nExtensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards\nCollaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects\nStrong communication skills with ability to write technical papers and proposals\nCommitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others\nIdentifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation\nOur Commitment to You:\nAn exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development\nResearch oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation’s security\nFlexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)\nCompetitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health & wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and more\nSee more at gdmissionsystems.com/careers/why-work-for-us/benefits\nWorkplace Options: This position is 100% RemoteThis postion is part of the Scottsdale, AZ Space Systems Team [Scottsdale, AZ Campus].\nSalary Note\nThis estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
