The successful candidate for this role has a strong understanding of thermal analysis principles, with expertise in some of the tools common in industry. As a Thermal Engineer you will conduct detailed thermal analysis of solid rocket motor components. You will collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams, interface with customers, and drive technical excellence. ** This is a full-time position with a 9/80 schedule. Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software.\n\nAdditional Responsibilities:\n\nPerform detailed thermal analysis of solid rocket motor components.\n\nSize internal insulation, external thermal protection systems, and structural insulators.\n\nValidate models with test data; develop predictive ablation and erosion models.\n\nDefine sub-scale tests for characterizing material properties of insulators and ablators.\n\nEvaluate and recommend ablative materials and thermal protection system solutions for applications in solid rocket motors\n\nCreate reports and presentations documenting analysis and other supporting work.\n\nPresent to peers and customers in design reviews.\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nMust be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.\n\nRequires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.\n\nMay need to stand for long periods of time.\n\nWork primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.\n\nWork may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.\n\nMay be requested to work a different shift.\n\nTravel RequirementsUp to 25% travel likely.
