Every day, your skills will directly impact programs that matter.\n We are looking to engage Systems Engineers Contractors to join the Bowman product development team in Calgary. Bowman is the tactical communications system integrating digital voice and data technology to provide secure radio, telephone, intercom and tactical internet services in a modular and fully integrated system.\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for system engineering activities across the full development lifecycle, including requirements analysis and definition, system architecture and design, interface management, integration, verification, validation, technical documentation, and support for lab setup and system configuration. The role supports on-platform and off-platform communications; network data routing and forwarding; radio communications; headquarters communications using fiber and Non-Line of Sight technologies; battle management and system management; and IT services including email, chat, and custom applications.\nThe responsibilities and range of activities will vary, but in general will include:\nPerform system level analysis in order to develop system and hardware level interconnection diagrams for test environments and requirements/specifications for development.\nDevelop and maintain subsystem and product requirements specifications, interface control documents, design documents and use cases\nParticipate in scrum events including sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint reviews and retrospectives.\nEstimation and refinement of the product and sprint backlogs.\nProvide support to the produce development, and the product integration and verification test teams as required by reviewing requirements, test plans and procedures, and by providing overall system engineering expertise.\nCollaborating closely with various engineering functions throughout the development cycle.\nPresenting your work during design and peer reviews.\nThis position will include working with Networking and routing, VLANs, Microsoft applications, radios, voice and data networks, and various automation, troubleshooting, and simulation tools (Robot Framework, Wireshark, CORE).\nReview technical documentation, provide analysis\nAssist in planning and coordinating test activities \nShare knowledge and present ideas to colleagues, provide leadership and mentoring to junior members\nPerform other related duties as assigned\n 5+ years of practical experience of complex electronic systems at a system level (design, development, and verification)\nEducation Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Science or equivalent in a related technical degree/diploma supplemented with applicable experience.\nStrong problem solving and root cause analysis skills\nAbility to work effectively both independently and in a team environment\nExperience with communication systems and technology\nExperience in defining, developing, and executing system tests\nFamiliarity with Ethernet communications, networking, VLANs, Internet Protocol (IP)\nFamiliarity with RF communication systems\nKnowledge of system and qualification test fundamentals\nExperience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred\nSecurity Requirement\nIt is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed.
