Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production.\nWe are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.\nHelp us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.\nAbout This Role\nWe're building our enrichment facilities and the high-density computing infrastructure behind them. We're hiring an Electrical Engineer to own power distribution inside the rack. You'll define how power gets from the facility tap-off to every server PSU in our high-density racks. That means selecting PDUs and power shelves, laying out busbars, assigning outlets and phases, and making sure every rack stays up when a feed goes down.\nThis is a hands-on design role, not a specification-only role. We want someone who has designed rack power, tested it, found the problems, and fixed them. You'll be the technical authority on rack power and the bridge between our facility electrical team and our IT hardware team. You'll set the technical foundation for work of lasting national importance.\nIf you seek high impact and are excited by fast-paced, intense, Skunkworks-style projects, we encourage you to apply to join our team.\nResponsibilities\nRack Power Architecture\nOwn the rack power architecture end to end, from busway tap-off or RPP through rack PDUs, in-rack busbars, and power shelves to server PSUs\nDefine rack power topologies for high-density AI/GPU and HPC deployments (50-130+ kW per rack), including 48V/54V busbar (OCP ORv3) and liquid-cooled configurations\nSet redundancy strategy at the rack level (A/B feeds, PSU N+1 and N+N) and verify failure-mode loading under single-feed operation\nDetailed Design & Analysis\nSelect and specify rack PDUs (metered, switched, intelligent), power shelves, BBUs, and power cords and whips (IEC C13/C19/C20, IEC 60309, NEMA L21)\nProduce rack elevations with power assignments, outlet-level load schedules, and phase-balance calculations\nAnalyze inrush current, hold-up time, breaker coordination at the branch and rack level, voltage drop, and connector and busbar thermal loading\nSize branch circuits, tap-offs, and RPP circuits feeding each rack, and set derating and power-capping strategy for variable GPU workloads\nIntegration & Validation\nWork directly with server OEMs, ODMs, and PDU and power shelf vendors on design reviews, submittals, and technical issues\nCoordinate with facility electrical, mechanical/liquid cooling, controls, and IT hardware teams to resolve rack-to-facility interface issues\nLead rack power validation through lab testing, factory integration, and on-site commissioning, and drive root cause on any power issue found\nIntegrate rack power monitoring (intelligent PDUs, branch circuit monitoring) with DCIM\nDesign Control\nPrepare design packages that move through formal engineering review, configuration management, and change control\nEnsure compliance with NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, NFPA 75, applicable IEEE standards, and UL/IEC listing requirements for rack equipment\nBasic Qualifications\nB.S. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field\n[5+] years of electrical design experience, with at least [3] years designing power distribution at the rack and server level for data center or hyperscale deployments\nDirect design experience with rack PDUs, in-rack busbars, power shelves, or server power delivery, not only facility-level MEP design\nStrong command of A/B redundancy, phase balancing, branch circuit sizing, inrush, and PSU redundancy behavior\nExperience taking rack power designs through testing, integration, or commissioning\nProficiency producing rack elevations, load schedules, and one-line diagrams (AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, or similar)\nMust be a U.S. person (export control requirement) and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance [FSO to confirm wording]\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nExperience with high-density AI/GPU racks such as NVIDIA GB200/GB300 NVL72, MGX, or comparable platforms\nExperience with OCP Open Rack (ORv3), 48V/54V busbar, BBU systems, or emerging higher-voltage DC rack architectures\nLiquid-cooled rack integration experience (power and cooling interface, CDU and manifold coordination)\nBackground on a hyperscaler hardware team, AI rack integrator, ODM, or rack PDU or power shelf manufacturer\nFamiliarity with facility-side distribution (busway, RPPs, UPS) and power system tools (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower)\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license\nExperience in a regulated industry (nuclear, aerospace, defense, pharma) with formal design control or QA programs\nAdditional Requirements\nAbility to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nGeneral Matter is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with General Matter is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe base salary range for this role is $170,000 - $250,000 annually. \nCompensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6480,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":true,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Retirement plans","Stock options"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Nuclear Energy","Nuclear Engineering"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-29T04:18:14Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":63,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.632,"p_room":1,"age_days":7,"expected_fill_days":59,"reasons":["conf:1","stale_co","velocity","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-11-05T05:54:30Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":250000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/general-matter-electrical-engineer-rack-power-distribution","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/general-matter-electrical-engineer-rack-power-distribution.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-06T00:24:14Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":705,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-07T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":171806},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=171806"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fgeneral-matter-electrical-engineer-rack-power-distribution"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fgeneral-matter-electrical-engineer-rack-power-distribution"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fgeneral-matter-electrical-engineer-rack-power-distribution"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/general-matter-electrical-engineer-rack-power-distribution\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fgeneral-matter-electrical-engineer-rack-power-distribution"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3438453}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"generalmatter.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3438453},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
