You will play a key role in developing and implementing practical, fit-for-purpose programs to manage chemical, radiological, and industrial hazards while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence. \nResponsibilities: \nSupport the Head of EH&S in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's EH&S management system. \nPerform and document hazard analyses for R&D activities and pilot-scale operations. \nPartner with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure safe facility design, equipment installation, and commissioning. \nLead and participate in incident investigations, audits, inspections, and corrective action programs. \nDevelop and deliver EH&S training programs and materials. \nConduct routine EH&S audits, inspections, and compliance assessments. \nMaintain safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), including inventory management and calibration activities. \nDevelop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and other safety procedures. \nManage hazardous waste handling and disposal in accordance with regulatory requirements. \nFoster a culture of safety ownership and continuous improvement across a multidisciplinary team. \nSupport regulatory compliance activities involving OSHA, NRC, DOE, and environmental requirements, as applicable. \nBasic Qualifications: \nBachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Health Physics, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field. \n5+ years of experience in an occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or EH&S role, preferably within nuclear, chemical, manufacturing, or R&D-intensive environments. \nWorking knowledge of applicable regulations and standards, including OSHA 29 CFR 1910, 10 CFR 20, 10 CFR 70, and DOE/NRC EH&S requirements. \nDemonstrated ability to identify occupational health and safety risks and implement effective risk mitigation strategies. \nExperience conducting hazard assessments, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analyses. \nStrong technical writing and documentation skills, including procedure development and compliance reporting. \nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. \nProven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. \nPreferred Qualifications \nProfessional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHP, CHMM, or equivalent. \nExperience supporting radiological operations, nuclear facilities, or pilot-scale process development. \nExperience with hazardous materials management, industrial hygiene monitoring, and emergency preparedness programs. \nEqual Opportunity Employer \nGeneral Matter is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with General Matter is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status. \nCompensation and Benefits \nThe base salary range for this role is $100,000-$170,000 annually. \nCompensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors.
