We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability and transparency.\nAbout This Role\nGeneral Matter is looking for an experienced IT Manager with strong knowledge and experience across IT technologies to support our growing site in Paducah, KY. The IT Manager will oversee the company's IT systems, implement best practices, and drive technology initiatives that align with our business goals. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our infrastructure scales as we grow while maintaining security, efficiency, and reliability. The ideal candidate will be flexible and flourish in a fast paced and challenging environment and will exercise a high degree of responsibility for the processes, systems, and tools you create and manage; all supporting the goal of ensuring the country has the fuel it needs to power its nuclear reactors. \nResponsibilities:\nWork closely with General Matter engineers to gather requirements, research, evaluate, design, plan, deploy, and support Microsoft enterprise software platforms and related technologies in a world-class environment that meets the needs of the demanding General Matter engineering teams. \nManage and maintain highly resilient, high-performance, scalable, and flexible systems. \nMake recommendations, justify, and implement improvements using an accepted change control methodology. \nWork within diverse groups to design and deliver creative solutions and resolve problems in a timely and proactive manner by interacting with internal business units. \nDefine, document and follow standards and best practices for systems design, testing, and implementation. \nResponsible for the health of the IT core infrastructure: \nEnsure uptime of critical systems to the business \nDrive improvements to optimize security and performance of the infrastructure \nBuild automation at scale to improve overall efficiency \nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering discipline with 3+ years of systems administration experience; OR 5+ years of professional systems administration experience in lieu of a degree. \nExperience with servers in physical and virtualized environments. \n5+ years of experience with Active Directory, Kerberos, Entra ID, and multi-platform authentication/identification environments \n5+ years of experience (including the ability to setup, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot) with Windows-based systems and services in both physical and virtual environments. \n5+ years of experience in monitoring mission-critical enterprise environments \nPreferred Skills and Experience:\nExpertise in creating repeatable, reliable, scalable systems architectures, with high availability, fault tolerance, performance tuning, monitoring, and statistics/metrics collection.\nUnderstanding of developing web, python, Powershell, and bash scripting applications and build processes.\nExperience with linux administration.\nExperience with automation platforms (Ansible, Salt, Chef).\nNetworking experience in IPv4, IPSEC VPN, SSL-VPN, SD-WAN, switching, routing, firewalls and HA architecture.\nComfortable working with mission critical and sensitive systems, with a sense of urgency appropriate to the responsibilities.\nExcellent communications skills with the ability to communicate with internal/external customers, vendors, management etc. in both formal and informal situations.\nAdditional Requirements:\nAbility to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nGeneral Matter is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with General Matter is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe base salary range for this role is $100,000-$160,000.\nYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.\nBase salary is just one part of your total rewards package at General Matter. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock options.
