This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to safe and efficient engineering solutions in advanced energy production. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a foundational understanding of chemical engineering principles and a willingness to learn and grow within the field.\nResponsibilities\nSupport the development of new processes and the design of unit operations for nuclear fuel production facilities.\nLead pilot-scale testing initiatives and contribute to process modeling and data analysis.\nExecute engineering assignments under guidance, leveraging knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, and reaction kinetics.\nPrepare and present reports, summaries, test plans, and other documentation to communicate project progress and findings.\nContribute to the preparation of engineering documents, such as design requirements, engineering specifications, and procedural documentation.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, operations, and safety to support design and operational objectives.\nParticipate in technical reviews as a presenter or reviewer, offering insights and solutions for project challenges.\nBasic Qualifications\nEvidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc)\nBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MS, MBA, or PhD) may substitute for years of experience, depending on the degree level.\n0-5 years of experience in experience in nuclear safety, process safety, or similar high-hazard environments.\nStrong understanding of core engineering principles, including thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and reaction kinetics.\nFamiliarity with engineering design processes and technical documentation.\nProficiency in problem-solving, data analysis, and effective technical communication.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for conveying technical safety data to diverse audiences.Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, operations, and licensing teams. \n\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nExperience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.\nRelevant internship or co-op experience in industries such as nuclear, chemical, petroleum, or aerospace.\nExposure to process modeling tools.\nKnowledge or experience with vacuum systems, cryogenics, compressible flow, or nuclear chemical processes.\nStrong interest in contributing to innovative projects in the nuclear energy or advanced chemical processing fields.\nAdditional Requirements\nAbility to work extended hours and weekends as necessary. \nEqual Opportunity Employer \nGeneral Matter is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with General Matter is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status. \nCompensation and Benefits\nThe base salary range for this role is $96,000-$106,000 annually. \nCompensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors.
