The combination of these sensors provides near and far object detection enabling the implementation of many new safety features into the vehicle - Forward collision warning, collision mitigated braking, lane departure warning to name a few. Exercises technical direction over other engineers or engineering support personnel and may have work direction responsibilities over a small group with specific engineering objectives. Consults with supervisor as required. \nResponsibilities\nDRE for Front Camera / Perception Module including all elements of hardware and software\nCapable of organizing and driving design for manufacturing initiatives \nDevelops component technical specifications as well as statement of requirements and subsystem technical specifications as required working in tandem with Technical Specialist\nLeads formal design, peer, and quality reviews\nLeads resolution of technical issues \nLeads/manages supplier resident engineers \nSupports sourcing activities \nSupports vehicle Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) activities.\nPrimary GM engineering interface with the component suppliers\nEnsure all vehicle program imperatives (cost, timing, investment, and quality) are met \nProvides technical leadership for advanced technology development \nPerforms complex design analysis \nDevelops engineering designs (including subsystems) \nImplement engineering changes \nPlans and implements test and/or development programs \nReleases parts and subsystems for production including SW packages as needed\nRequirements\nBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related engineering degree program \n5+ years of experience in a job-related area \nPrior experience in electrical/electronic component design/release a plus but not required for this assignment \nUnderstanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms \nSpecific knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, metallurgy and manufacturing methods engineering \nUnderstanding of product design and process interdependencies \nHigh level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult \nDesired Skills\nDFMEA training \nElectronic Validation Experience \nDFSS Certification \nSoftware Controls/wiring experience \nDesign/Development of Safety Critical Systems/Components \nExperience with Automated Driving sensors (Cameras, Lidars, Radars, Ultrasonic Sensors) a plus \nKnowledge of software development and systems as it pertains to engineering preferred \nPrior experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering for DFM \nKnowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering \nKnowledge of Team Center Systems Engineering and/or Doors requirements management tools is a plus. \n\nAbout GM\nOur vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.\nWhy Join Us\nWe believe we all must make a choice every day - individually and collectively - to drive meaningful change through our words, our deeds and our culture.
