Tasks also include participating within cross functional development teams, data analysis, calibration development, identifying opportunities for data reduction, and leading the migration of lab-based activities to math is required. This is an assignment where creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved, and effective cross-organizational teamwork is crucial.\nWhat You’ll Do (Responsibilities):\nFollow development test unit through build process - support setup and debugging to assure test readiness \nActively report out timeline/results/conclusions/recommendations to the Advanced or Product Development Teams while collaborating with Technical Experts to improve current test methods, design features and calibration strategies. This may involve comprehending related ECU algorithms, associated calibration process, and evaluation of virtual metrics supporting hardware decision making \nCollaborate with design, 1D and 3D analysis teams to collectively achieve program goals\nDevelop and execute first-time capable tests for calibration and hardware development evaluation\nLead diagnosis and resolution of issues that occur during setup and testing \nUtilize and create post processing tools to assure data quality and track usefulness of data in generation of final calibration or reports \nDevelop, implement, and update standard work processes and procedures globally \nInteract with facilities, technical leads, calibration teams, hardware release engineers, and other cross functional units to improve process and test efficiency \nSupport math-based activities, migrating additional work from Road and Lab to Math based models and data analysis \nTrain, mentor, and develop new engineers\n Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):\nMinimum 4 years of experience in automotive engineering with engine system knowledge Experience in spark ignited / compression ignited (SI/CI) engine systems, calibration techniques and control algorithms, thermodynamic, and emission formation mechanisms\n\nExperience with all SW tools consisting of AVL PUMA, IndiCom, CAMEO, Concerto and ETAS INCA software\nDemonstrated drive for results \nExcellent planning and problem-solving skills in leading edge technology applications\nHigh level of oral and written communication skills \nHigh level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish peer relationships. \nAbility to prioritize work, resources, and work independently with minimal direction \nProficient with computer and data acquisition systems \nExperience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results \nAbility to travel as required for offsite testing (less than 10%) \nWhat Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):\nExperience with AVL PUMA/IndiCom/CAMEO and ETAS INCA software \nExposure to propulsion system calibration in test and vehicle environment \nKnowledge and 5+ years’ experience with SI/CI combustion system component interactions, aftertreatment systems engine testing, calibration, model based controls, single cylinder engine operation, and hardware development tradeoffs\nExperience with engine dyno setup and testing \nExperience with engine dynamometer instrumentation/devices and emissions measurement systems\nFamiliarity with government test cycles (e.g., FTP, US06, WLTP, RDE, RMC, LLC, HHDDT) \n\nGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
