Success requires creative, physics-based problem solving; strong communication and interpersonal skills; advanced planning and organization; attention to detail; and personal accountability.\nThe position may be filled at either an Engineer or Senior Engineer. The level for this role will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.\nWhat You’ll Do (Responsibilities):\nSupport or lead aerodynamic enabler development to meet vehicle aerodynamic, energy, vehicle dynamics, and lap-time requirements.\nSupport or develop thermal architectural solutions to meet front-end airflow, propulsion cooling, and air-conditioning performance requirements.\nIntegrate and balance aerodynamic and front-end airflow performance with brake cooling, thermal performance, wind noise, and vehicle dynamics.\nPerform or lead virtual aerodynamic and front-end airflow simulations using commercial CFD codes and supporting software in Windows, Linux/UNIX, and HPC environments.\nUse engineering tools such as ANSA, STAR-CCM+, POWERFLOW/EXA-POWERFLOW, FLUENT, HYPERWORKS, and other internal codes as appropriate.\nSupport or lead aerodynamic and front-end airflow development testing at the GM Kelly Aerodynamics Lab and offsite facilities.\nCollaborate with Design Studio, SMT, Program Teams, Engineering, and Manufacturing to integrate aerodynamic and front-end airflow features throughout vehicle development.\nParticipate fully in vehicle development activities and proactively use simulation and test results to guide vehicle design decisions.\nCommunicate aerodynamic and front-end airflow results, risks, recommendations, and development plans during standard reviews, peer reviews, program meetings, and gate reviews.\nSupport or lead final validation and certification of vehicle aerodynamic performance.\nSupport wind-noise, coast-down, track, and other vehicle performance testing as required.\nBenchmark competitive vehicles and apply relevant findings to program development.\nContribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable engineering environment.\nAerodynamics Engineer\nExecute aerodynamic and front-end airflow analyses, simulations, and tests with increasing independence.\nSupport development of aerodynamic requirements, enablers, and thermal architectural solutions.\nAnalyze complex technical issues and recommend physics-based solutions.\nCoordinate assigned simulation and test activities and ensure results are documented and communicated clearly.\nCollaborate effectively with Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, SMT, and Program Team partners.\nApply established processes, tools, and methods while identifying opportunities to improve them.\nDemonstrate ownership of assigned deliverables through detailed planning, communication, and disciplined execution.\nBuild technical depth in vehicle aerodynamics, CFD, wind-tunnel testing, front-end airflow, thermal integration, and vehicle development.\nSenior Aerodynamics Engineer\nDefine program aerodynamic performance requirements based on energy strategy, track-performance targets, benchmarking, and program priorities.\nDevelop program aerodynamic content and strategy to meet vehicle aerodynamic, energy, vehicle dynamics, and lap-time requirements.\nLead development of thermal architectural solutions for front-end airflow, propulsion cooling, and air-conditioning performance.\nLead the integration and balancing of aerodynamic, front-end airflow, brake-cooling, thermal, wind-noise, and vehicle-dynamics requirements.\nOrganize and lead complex virtual simulations, physical testing, and development activities.\nLead cross-functional collaboration with Design Studio, SMT, Program Teams, Engineering, and Manufacturing.\nTake ownership of simulation and test strategies and use results to influence vehicle design and program decisions.\nCommunicate technical recommendations, risks, and development plans at program meetings, peer reviews, and gate reviews.\nLead final validation and certification of vehicle aerodynamic performance.\nMentor less-experienced team members in aerodynamic development, tools, processes, communication, and behaviors.\nCoordinate coast-down testing, competitive benchmarking, and other activities supporting program objectives.\nInfluence processes, tools, techniques, and behaviors to improve engineering effectiveness and program outcomes.\nYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):\nBachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with a fluid-dynamics focus, or an equivalent degree.\n2+ years (5+ for Senior) years of professional experience with vehicle development/engineering\nStrong analytical ability to resolve complex engineering issues.\nStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, SMT, and Program Team members.\nWhat Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):\nMaster’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with a fluid-dynamics focus, or an equivalent degree.\nExperience with or demonstrated proficiency in aerodynamic and front-end airflow CFD/CAD tools\nExperience with or demonstrated proficiency in aerodynamic and wind-tunnel testing, measurement techniques, and data systems\nExperience
