Our teams create vehicles and experiences that go beyond transportation-delivering safety, intelligence, and connectivity at scale\nAbout the Role:\nAs a Senior Product Engineer, you will be responsible for leading product development and Core Engineering / integration activities within the Seat Core Engineering team. Responsibilities include utilizing engineering tools and processes to successfully develop seat variants for vehicle programs. \nEffectively achieve program milestones by thorough and rigorous program management.\nWhat You'll Do: (Responsibilities):\nDesign, development, analysis, implementation, and validation of the complex Seat subsystems will be your day to day duties. \nPerform engineering design evaluations and concept development across vehicle programs using DFSS approach. \nUtilize engineering tools (DFMEA, ICDs, PFMEA) and leverage CAE groups including Safety Performance to successfully develop the best system design solutions. \nComplete DFMEA's (FIT) on time with quality. \nPackage components, manage CAD development through supplier or GM designers and collaborate with other systems within the vehicle. \nEnsure best practices are incorporated in the CAD and seeks support when best practice not met. \nWork cross-functionally to support initial vehicle configuration work, realize cost optimization, deliver customer-driven requirements, and implement product and process improvements \nBalance business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, timing, and content \nCommunicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations (e.g. Creative Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers) and lead the product development team (PDT).\nTrack and resolve open issues with support. \nReview, support and apply benchmarking for design direction competitiveness. \nSupport SVI team through early engagement. \nUnderstanding customer needs and architecture limitations \nIntegrate components, occupant and seating system \nLook forward and anticipate usages ( do not focus on point solutions) \nDevelop RE-USE strategy across all Seating systems \nReduce component variants \nProvide improvements and solutions to enable comfort and craftsmanship \nProvide features and solutions for consistent quality assembly and closeout (to seat and vehicle) \nSupport virtual validation goals. \nIncorporate lessons learned and continuous improvements based on physical validation and builds \nYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):\nBachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Industrial and Systems Engineering/ Civil Engineering required \nMinimum 5+ years of developing and executing technical solutions for mechanical components to support new vehicle programs \nPrevious Seat development experience \nBalancing business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing \nComfortable working with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams \nAbility to deal optimally with ambiguity and forward-thinking environment \nDesign for Six Sigma (DFSS) - Green belt certification required \nDesign for Six Sigma (DFSS) - Black belt certification required \n What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):\nMaster Degree in Engineering preferred \nFamiliarity with structured problem-solving methods Red-X \nExperience with DFMEA, PFMEA and GD&T \nSponsorship:\nGM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION-RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.
