This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office four times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.\nThe Role\nIn this role, you will manage a team of 10+ engineers who perform ergonomic virtual assessments and validate ergonomic standards and requirements for all global product programs across General Motors. You will be part of the Technical Center India (TCI) ME Ergonomics team. This is a key role interfacing with both regional and global teams.\nThe team members will execute, analyze, and deliver ergonomic simulations with the desired quality and on-time delivery (OTD). They are required to learn and use GM’s digital human modeling tools, and leverage lessons learned from other new product programs and manufacturing plants to support decision-making. The role requires the ability to assimilate data from multiple sources and apply both practical and technical problem-solving techniques. Decisions are made within the framework of general practices, policies, and procedures.\nThis position is based at GM Technical Center India, Bengaluru.\nWhat You’ll Do\nEstablish bench strength by recruiting, training, and developing engineers to meet business objectives, while ensuring diversity and inclusion\n\nDrive a safety culture by adhering to GM Global Workplace Safety Systems\n\nContribute to strategic 3-5-year planning and develop the team from both organizational and technical perspectives\n\nWork with leadership to set and drive annual business objectives; set individual and team priorities, and regularly review and approve team members’ work\n\nEnsure team deliverables are executed on time and that leadership is informed of status and any issues\n\nChampion continuous improvement initiatives by utilizing feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to reduce waste and improve productivity\n\nEstablish performance goals, conduct reviews, coach and mentor team members, and provide candid and constructive feedback\n\nManage team workload, support resource planning, and forecast and track budgets\n\nSeek and review feedback from launch sites and supported plants through local ME teams on workshare activities\n\nEnsure compliance with all GM policies and procedures\n\nSupport team members in analyzing and resolving complex manufacturing problems\n\nStay updated on new technologies and competitive products\n\nCollaborate with GM and external technical communities to develop technology roadmap solutions\n\nYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)\nMaster’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.\n\n15+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering (OEM or Tier 1 supplier).\n\nHands-on experience in ergonomic assessments/simulations and manufacturing engineering applications preferred.\n\nKnowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, equipment, facilities, materials, and operations.\n\nHands-on experience with CAD, Teamcenter, and other Manufacturing Engineering tools.\n\nHands-on experience with VisMockup, Process Simulate, Vis Jack, or Classic Jack for 3D human modeling simulations (advanced computer skills preferred).\n\nProcess knowledge of vehicle assembly\n\nKnowledge of collaboration, data management, and analytics tools such as SharePoint and Power BI.\n\nWorking knowledge of Work Standardization and Workplace Safety Systems.\n\nWorking knowledge of Operational Excellence (OpEx) concepts\n\nStrong understanding of launch timelines/processes, Quality Chain, and DFMEA-PFMEA\n\nKnowledge of OpEx tools, Six Sigma, and Red X methodologies\n\nProficiency in Agile project management methodologies\n\nKnowledge of AI/ML applications in manufacturing, including predictive analytics, process optimization, and quality analytics (e.g., defect prediction)\n\nDemonstrated understanding of vehicle anatomy\n\nKnowledge of General Assembly processes\n\nAbility to organize, plan, and execute manufacturing and/or ergonomic projects\n\nKnowledge of VisMockup/NX for 3D human modeling simulations\n\nStrong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate across organizational levels\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts\n\nExperience working with internal and external stakeholders\n\nExposure to programming or software customization is an added advantage\n\nProven skills in Agile project management\n\nAbility to work with cross-cultural, multidisciplinary, and remote teams to achieve functional goals, including AI-led transformation initiatives\n\nAbility to organize, plan, prioritize, and execute projects with strong attention to detail, leveraging data-driven decision-making\n\nAbility to effectively lead meetings and workshops, including driving adoption of AI tools and data-centric practices\n\nAbility to interpret data and translate analytics outputs into actionable improvements\n\nWillingness to travel across regions as required.\n\nWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)\nPeople Development\n\nChange Leadership\n\nResults Orientation\n\nTeam Leadership\n\nCollaboration and Influencing\n\nStrategic Orientation\n\nCustomer Focus\n\nAbout GM\nOur vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.\nWhy Join Us\nWe believe we all must make a choice every day - individually and collectively - to drive meaningful change through our words, our deeds and our culture.
