This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office four times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.\nThe Role\nLead Industrial Engineering activities and serve as a subject matter expert for manufacturing processes and engineering tools. Partner with global plant and engineering teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and process standardization.\nWhat You’ll Do\nLead process planning, line balancing, work combination analysis, time studies, ergonomics assessments, and shop-floor process improvements.\nSupport new product launches, plant expansions, assembly line setup, and existing-plant optimization.\nDevelop and standardize industrial engineering documents, including standardized work, job element sheets, work combination tables, time studies, process schematics, and material and information flow diagrams.\nCreate and maintain manufacturing layouts, bills of material, bills of process, bills of equipment, and related process documentation.\nAnalyze data, prepare reports, and communicate recommendations to engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams.\nServe as the subject matter expert for Industrial Engineering tools and manufacturing applications, including user support, access coordination, issue resolution, system enhancements, and knowledge management.\nLead continuous improvement, productivity, cost-reduction, automation, and waste-reduction initiatives; guide macros and digital solutions that improve efficiency.\nFacilitate cross-functional reviews, drive critical issues to closure, and represent business needs in technology and process initiatives.\nCoach and develop engineers through training, mentoring, technical guidance, and capability-building plans.\nEnsure compliance with applicable standards, operating procedures, labor requirements, and site policies.\nYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)\nBachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Automotive, or Production Engineering; postgraduate qualification in Industrial Engineering is preferred.\n10+ years of Industrial Engineering experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing.\nExperience with shop-floor operations, line balancing, takt-time changes, new product development, plant expansion, and manufacturing process planning.\nWorking knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, ergonomics, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement.\nExperience with manufacturing planning, product lifecycle management, manufacturing execution, or related engineering systems.\nProficiency with engineering and productivity software, data analysis, and VBA-based automation.\nKnowledge of electric vehicle manufacturing, Industry 4.0, design for manufacturing and assembly, failure mode and effects analysis, and production routing is preferred.\nTechnical leadership and subject matter expertise\nProject planning, estimation, reporting, and governance\nData-driven problem solving and decision-making\nChange leadership, continuous improvement, and innovation\nStakeholder management and communication across global teams\nCoaching, mentoring, collaboration, and influencing\nStrategic planning, workload management, and independent execution\nWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)\nLeading cross-functional teams in a unionized manufacturing environment.\nDelivering standardized solutions across multiple plants or regions.\nAchieving measurable improvements in productivity, cost, process automation, or operational excellence.\n\nAbout GM\nOur vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.\nWhy Join Us\nWe believe we all must make a choice every day - individually and collectively - to drive meaningful change through our words, our deeds and our culture.
