Must be willing to work weekends.\nThis position may offer relocation assistance.\nThe Role:\nWork is technical in nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies, and standards. Work is performed in a manufacturing plant where creativity and initiative are exercised as well as independent judgment. Work involves the need to troubleshoot issues and support problem solving practices. Ability to analyze data to support cost reductions and tool life improvements. Ability to work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision is a must. Must have the ability to work across multiple functions, training others, and assign work to a small group of employees. As well as playing a key role as the tooling and gaging point of contact, the successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting equipment and implementing permanent corrective solutions in a manufacturing department. May involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.\nWhat You'll Do:\nSupports continuous improvement projects\nApproval of process documentation \nDiagnose, analyze, and document emergent tooling issues \nCreation of Engineering sufficiency plans as required\nEnsure supply base adheres to GM standards and quality, and manufacturing processes are enabled \nDesign, analyze and implement product or machinery designs for best method for manufacturing processes \nPropose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area \nDirect the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area \nRegular contact with others outside the work group including leading cross-functional teams \nProvide direction to small group of technical employees \nResponsible to evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment \nStrong technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines \nStrong knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles\nYour Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience \nDemonstrated high level of analytical ability including experience with structured technical problem; can include RedX or Design for Six Sigma methods. \nWork in a Team Environment to understand Product, Processes, and Failure Modes \nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results \nDemonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others \nProven ability in managing large and complex projects \nExperience in troubleshooting production equipment\nWhat Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):\nExperience with gear and aluminum machining, assembly processes, and\ntesting and verification systems\n\nGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
