As aSenior Environmental Engineer at General Motors, you will have the opportunity to champion the air, waste and/or water compliance programs and be responsible for developing programs to reduce environmental risk. You will work collaboratively with diverse groups to create and implement best in class, sustainable solutions to improve environmental compliance and sustainability across the site. We are currently looking for talented individuals who have a passion for the environment and who want to help make the facility a leader in environmental compliance and sustainability.\nA Senior Environmental Engineer works independently and is capable of managing new or complicated issues with collaboration as needed with other subject matter experts and functional areas.\nWhat You'll Do:\nResponsible for developing/maintaining/supporting robust and consistent environmental stewardship program strategies in support of GM’s mission to deliver sustainable solutions that improve the communities in which we live and work.\nResponsible for managing a team of contract chemical and / or waste management professionals.\nExperienced in at least one of the main environmental programs (air permits and regulation, water permits and regulations, or waste regulations)\nEngages with Subject Matter Experts as necessary to ensure continual improvement and support new program/project implementation.\nKey collaboration with plant management and employees, Facility Managers, regulatory agencies, internal and external community leaders and members, legal staff, GM and external audit services, utility service providers, Project Planning teams at sites & HQ, domain experts and chemical and resource management business partners.\nYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):\nBachelor’s degree with a major in Engineering or related sciences field.\n4 years’ experience in Environmental Engineering with an understanding of manufacturing, with rotations between environmental programs (air, water, waste) and/or between locations with environmental management.\nDemonstrated expertise in more than one environmental discipline or a highly developed ability in one specialty area.\nWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):\nExperience leading, managing or overseeing small teams and/or contracted environmental service providers.\nAssembly or similar Manufacturing experience.\nExperience leading waste and water compliance programs\n\nGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
