Our Software Services team is on the forefront of this work, emboldening our culture by seeking out determined, innovative individuals who will join our team to help move us forward and achieve our mission.\nThe Role\nAs a Software Engineering - Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) on the Connectivity team, you will drive the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical software systems while solving complex engineering and operational challenges. You will identify opportunities to strengthen system resilience, improve processes, and develop scalable solutions, using data and technical expertise to influence decisions and drive improvements across teams. Working with a high degree of independence, you will own solutions from problem identification through implementation, collaborate across engineering organizations, and serve as a technical resource and mentor to other engineers.\nWhat You'll Do:\nConnectivity issue monitoring and troubleshooting: Monitoring the performance and availability of software systems, identifying and resolving issues, and implementing proactive measures to prevent future incidents across all vehicle programs and test environments.\nSoftware integration testing and automation: Developing and maintaining automation tools and test infrastructure to streamline software deployment, configuration management, and system monitoring.\nPerformance Optimization: Analyzing system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimizations to improve the efficiency and scalability of software systems.\nIncident Response and Root Cause Analysis: Responding to incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to prevent similar incidents in the future.\nCollaboration with Development Teams: Collaborating with software development teams to ensure that reliability and scalability considerations are incorporated into the software design and implementation.\nContinuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvement, implementing best practices, and driving initiatives to enhance the reliability and performance of software systems.\nRequired Skills & Abilities:\nBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related software subject area, or work equivalent work experience.\n5+ years of relevant experience\nWorking knowledge of embedded systems development \nExposure to module development process, product development, execution, systems engineering, systems integration, or validation\nWorking knowledge of Python and Autobot for scripting, automation, test execution, and connectivity issue troubleshooting.\nKnowledge of vehicle diagnostics\nProficiency in vehicle data communication systems, including CAN and Ethernet.\nUnderstanding of networking and software development in distributed systems • Experience that demonstrates strong technical leadership - able to comprehend complex systems and explain these systems to others. • Creativity and initiative as well as a high level of independent judgment - able to deliver quality results with little supervision. • Demonstrated experience in the development of requirements, features, detailed designs, and delivery of production releases. • Ability to root cause issues, track and communicate corrective actions to multiple stakeholders • Good verbal, written and communication skills • Passion to learn new technologies What will Give You a Competitive Edge ( Preferred Skills): • Master of Science Degree in an engineering field • Experience in GM production SW development process and Issue tracking systems • Familiarity with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, Cellular, CAN, V2x simulators and test devices • Connectivity experience (i.e. Telematics, Infotainment, Modules.)\n\nThis role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.\n\nThis job is not eligible for relocation benefits.
