This position is with the Loyalty team helping build GM's Loyalty platforms with world class earn/redeem experiences to increase advocacy and engagement of our customers.\nThe Role\nAs a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing one or more software development teams. You are expected to leverage your technical background to ensure that software is designed and developed using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies and in accordance with GM’s software development project methodology; including but not limited to standards in code quality, performance, stability, security and overall alignment and compliance with project objectives.\nThe ideal candidate brings strong people leadership and hands-on expertise in Web application development technologies such as Angular, React, .Net Core, Postgresql etc. The role requires someone who can coach engineers, guide architecture and delivery decisions, and stay close enough to the work to help unblock complex technical and platform challenges.\nWhat You’ll Do\nSet technical and delivery direction by translating business strategy into team priorities, roadmaps, and measurable success metrics and outcomes. \nLead and develop engineering teams through hiring, coaching, feedback, mentoring, stretch work, and career development.\nManage concurrent projects and delivery execution, including scope, capacity, dependencies, risks, blockers, and on-time delivery of high-quality data products. \nProvide technical leadership and promote strong software engineering practices, quality, experimentation, reusable patterns, governance, and scalable solutions.\nStrengthen reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across the platform space.\nCommunicate status and escalate issues through program reviews, Jira/Confluence reporting, risk tracking, and leadership updates. \nLead performance tuning, usability assessment / improvement, AI adoption and automation technologies.\nAssess security risks for applications and code remediation techniques.\nOversee Integration efforts of software or solutions with existing software/systems.\nExpert knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems.\nUnderstand and maintain compliance with GM standards and industry best practice.\nProvide support for deployment and post Go-live. Able to troubleshoot and lead the production incidents to closure.\nYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) \nBachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.\nMinimum of 10 years of development experience.\n5+ years of leadership experience including developing teams\nStrong knowledge of web development technologies such as .Net Core / Spring boot, Angular/React, Microservices, REST based APIs, Azure or other cloud technologies, GitHub, Jira, Messaging middleware such as Azure Event Hub / Kafka, etc.\nProficiency in database technologies and SQL such as PostgreSQL\nStrong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.\nWhat Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)\nStrong Customer and Loyalty domain expertise.\nExperience leading cloud migration efforts for enterprise applications and modernization efforts.\nExperience with Salesforce.\nHands on experience using AI technologies to improve productivity.\nAbility to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical engagement.\nExperience influencing cross-functional decisions and platform direction.\n\nGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
