You'll be part of a team working to ship the world’s most reliable connectivity.\nWhat You'll Do\nGM is developing a breakthrough new system for vehicle software and communications, and you'll be at the heart of it. We design our own hardware, so you'll work closely with hardware teams to meet the tough power and reliability requirements of vehicles. You'll also work closely with our application and cloud teams to ensure end-to-end reliability and performance.\n Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)\nThis is a networking role, so you should know networking fundamentals like TCP/IP and how the whole network stack works - from drivers through applications.\n\nYou should also understand application-level protocols like HTTP (and how application developers use those protocols).\n\nYou know how to triage complicated system-wide issues in a team.\n\nOur operating systems are Linux, Android, and QNX - you should know how networking operates on at least one of these platforms.\n\nMost of our code is written in C, C++, and Java, so we expect you know at least one of these languages well.\n\nBS/MS/PhD in computer science or electrical engineering (or equivalent experience)\n\n5+ years software development experience\n\n What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) \nKnowing WiFi, LTE, 5G, Bluetooth and/or UWB is great. (If you don't know those things, you will if you work here!)\n\nVehicles are \"data centers on wheels,\" so physical connectivity is important.\n\nIf you've used a packet sniffer or protocol analyzer, you’re a great fit for us.\n\nDemonstrated experience with methods for shipping highly-reliable software (such as telemetry/observability) is useful\n\nWe value writing and collaboration skills - they’re key to good system design\n\nCompensation:\nThe salary range for this role is $147000 to $196,600.
