In this role, you will act as the subject matter expert in diagnostic infrastructure software development, responsible for architecting new diagnostic software applications and core diagnostic software libraries, along with their interfaces.\nThe ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge software solutions that enable efficient and accurate vehicle diagnostics across the GM Enterprise and GM Dealership network.\nWhat You'll Do (Responsibilities)\nLead the diagnostic infrastructure software architecture development related to UDS and DTC Management.\n\nOwn the diagnostic infrastructure software application and library strategy for the development of in-house diagnostic software, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.\n\nCreate and manage comprehensive architecture diagrams and technical execution plans.\n\nDeliver new diagnostic software solutions that comply with GM requirements and specifications. Consistently produce high-quality software through rigorous unit testing, thorough code reviews, and frequent check-ins for continuous integration.\n\nReview and approve Engineering Change Requests that impact GM Autonomous Vehicle Platform diagnostics globally.\n\nCommunicate technical issues and decisions efficiently to management.\n\nWork with GM's manufacturing and service diagnostic teams to support new vehicle architectures, including Software Defined Vehicles (SDV).\n\nCollaborate with other Platform teams (Cybersecurity, Programming, Serial Data Communication, etc.) to analyze and address potential UDS integration issues.\n\nAssist in resolving production diagnostic problems by reviewing vehicle communication logs and other data records.\n\nServe as a technical lead, actively guiding and mentoring fellow developers on the team to foster growth, collaboration, and technical excellence.\n\nActively participate in hiring, development of technical questionnaires, resume reviews and perform interviews\n\nRepresent the GM Diagnostic Infrastructure Software Team internally and externally through automotive industry work groups (ISO, SAE).\n\nThere will be travel to the US one to two weeks of the year.\n\nYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.\n\nProven expertise in C++ programming language and other object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Python)\n\nA minimum of 8 years of experience in software design and development, with a strong focus on diagnostic software applications and diagnostic protocols (UDS).\n\nExperience in diagnostic strategy and software architect.\n\nKnowledge of vehicle diagnostic serial data protocols: UDS (ISO-14229) and DoIP (ISO-13400).\n\nExperience reading vehicle communication logs collected from Ethernet bus loggers and Wireshark.\n\nUnderstanding of vehicle electrical architecture systems and standards.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.\n\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.\n\nProven results in successful project execution.\n\nWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):\nMaster’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related.\n\nExperience in embedded software development on System-on-Chips (SoCs).\n\nFamiliarity with embedded Linux such as Yocto project.\n\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.\n\nFamiliarity with ISO-26262.\n\nExperience with vehicle Ethernet networking.\n\nCompensation:\nThe salary range for this role is $147,000 to $196,600.
