As a Staff Android Software Engineer, you’ll drive the future of in-vehicle user experiences by developing high-performance Android-based infotainment and digital cluster systems. You’ll focus on building scalable, responsive, and intuitive user interfaces on top of the Android Automotive OS and hybrid Android/RTOS environments.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign, develop, and test Android system and application-level software for infotainment and digital displays (instrument clusters, center stack, HUD).\n\nLead the integration of Android applications within Android Automotive OS with embedded platforms and multi-display vehicle architectures.\n\nBuild reusable frameworks and services within Android, leveraging AOSP, Jetpack, and HIDL/AIDL interfaces.\n\nCollaborate cross-functionally with hardware, product, and design teams to deliver responsive, beautiful, and consistent in-vehicle experiences.\n\nOptimize Android system performance, startup time, and resource usage to meet automotive-grade reliability and latency requirements.\n\nDrive Android-RTOS coexistence strategies, enabling seamless handoff and communication between systems.\n\nApply Agile/Scrum practices with CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust, testable code and frequent feature delivery.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field-or equivalent work experience.\n\n8+ years of experience in production-grade software development, with 3+ years focused on Android system or application development.\n\nDeep proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin\n\nFamiliarity with Android System Apps, AOSP, Android HALs, and system services.\n\nExperience integrating Android with embedded ECUs and automotive protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience delivering Android-based infotainment systems in production vehicles.\n\n8+ years of experience in production-grade software development, with 3+ years focused on Android system or application development.\n\nExperience with Android emulator tools, ADB, and automotive debugging tools like CANoe or VehicleSpy.\n\nC++ experience\n\nUnderstanding of Android Automotive OS and its integration with vehicle networks.\n\nBackground in RTOS or hybrid Android/RTOS systems.\n\nKnowledge of OpenGL, Vulkan, or Unreal Engine for advanced UI rendering.\n\nCompensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance withapplicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions locatedoutside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.\nThe salary range for this role is $195,000 - $298,800.
