The Role
You'll join the Recorder team as a senior engineer and work on the core of Medal: the software that captures, encodes and records gameplay on our users' machines, including game integrations that power features like auto clipping.
Engineers from other teams (Game Integrations, Front End and interns) regularly contribute to the recorder codebase, so a big part of this role is making that safe and easy. You'll design and architect solutions a team can maintain, set up guardrails and best practices, and help the codebase mature so anyone can make changes cleanly and with confidence.
This is hands-on work across the recorder stack: capture, hooks, encoding and game integrations. We want someone who likes working across the whole system and sharing what they know, not someone who owns one silo.

Confident using C#, .NET Framework, and win32 in performance-critical contexts
Proven software engineering expertise: you've built maintainable, extensible systems
A collaborative, team-first mindset: you share knowledge, pair with others and help the team avoid single points of failure
Result-driven: everything we do is driven by the metrics and performance of the feature, we move fast and ship regularly
Gaming: a passion for games and gaming communities, and a user of Discord and other gaming products
In-person: we're hiring in NYC to work alongside the product team, 5 days a week in the office
