Our Research and Development department at MDL is comprised of experts in the fields of Molecular Biology, Molecular Virology, Microbiology, Molecular Oncology and Gynecology. Our main theme of research is in the field of Infectious Arthritis, Tick-borne Diseases, Mycology, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). \n\nMDL is currently seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our Quality Control team in our corporate office in Hamilton, NJ. \n\nJob Summary: To perform accessioning checks, and analyze/verify clinical laboratory results.\n\nEssential Functions: \nPerforms accessioning checks for all of the requisitions sent to the clinical laboratory. Assess the accuracy of specimen information entered into the LIS and identify any accessioning discrepancies.\nMaintains accurate record of discrepancies, and gives discrepancy reports to the appropriate department for corrective action.\nAnalyzes, enters and verifies clinical laboratory results including but not limited to: Real-time PCR, conventional PCR, Western blots, ELISA, IFA, and antibiotic resistance testing. \nIdentifies samples that require repeat or additional testing to ensure accurate results.\nCommunicates with lab personnel about any testing issues or pending results.\n\nAdditional Responsibilities:\nAssures patient privacy is maintained at all times.\nPerforms other similar or related duties as required or assigned.\n\nPhysical Demands: Physical, Mental and workplace Environment Conditions\nThe employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.\nThe employee must be able to tolerate sitting at a desk for long periods of time.\nThe employee is required to type, and must be able to communicate any errors or issues.\nThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.\nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision & focus.\n\nWorking Conditions: Workplace Environment Conditions\nBusiness casual office environment.\nThe noise level in this environment is usually mild to moderate.\n\nJob Qualifications: \nBachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Microbiology or related Science field. \nBasic computer literacy. LIS experience preferred.\nMust have strong attention to detail.\nPrevious quality control experience preferred but not required.
