Genpact is a professional services company that began in 1997 as a business process unit inside GE Capital in India, and was spun out as an independent firm in 2005. It runs finance and accounting, supply chain, procurement, risk and customer operations on behalf of large enterprises, combining offshore delivery with process reengineering and increasingly with automation rather than pure labour arbitrage. Headquartered in New York and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, the company employs well over a hundred thousand people, mostly in India, and has repositioned its offering around agentic AI embedded into the processes it already operates.

Job Description -

Role context

This role owns cost controlling, financial planning and analysis (FP&A) for the enabling / corporate functions - the CEO, CFO, CPO and COO offices and their reporting organizations. It is a business-partnering role: the holder is the trusted finance counterpart to function leadership, translating financial data into decisions.

While the mandate spans all four functions, the primary focus and the majority of complexity sit in the COO organization. The successful candidate is above all a strong COO-area controller who can absorb and manage a large, fragmented operational cost base and still deliver clarity to leadership.

Seniority is pitched at senior individual-contributor / team-lead level; band, location and reporting line should be adjusted to your structure.

Mission

Provide leadership with a reliable, forward-looking and decision-ready view of cost and performance across the corporate functions - with the COO organization as the anchor - and act as the financial conscience and challenger of those functions.

Key responsibilities - FP&A across CEO / CFO / CPO / COO

  • Planning cycle ownership - run the full annual budget, rolling forecasts and mid-term plan for the four functions, including personnel-cost and headcount planning.
  • Monthly cost controlling - deliver month-end actuals, variance analysis versus plan and forecast, and clear management commentary; own cost-centre and cost-type integrity, accruals and reclassifications.
  • Management reporting - produce and continuously improve dashboards and reporting packs for function heads and the CFO; standardise where possible, deep-dive where it matters.
  • Business partnering & decision support - build business cases, cost-benefit analyses and scenario models; challenge assumptions and support prioritisation of spend.
  • Headcount & external-spend controlling - track FTE, SWP, contractor and vendor cost across functions; keep the internal-versus-external labour mix transparent.
  • Cost transparency & allocations - manage cost allocation and internal recharge logic so that costs land with the right consumers and services.
  • Close support & governance - support month, quarter and year-end close with Accounting; keep controlling data accurate, auditable and handled in line with DORA, the EU AI Act and GDPR.
  • Process & tooling improvement - drive automation and standardisation of planning, forecasting and reporting; strengthen the controlling toolset.

Key responsibilities - COO organization (primary focus)

The COO area is where this role earns its keep. Specific responsibilities:

  • Master a complex organization - understand the full COO structure (operations, service delivery, infrastructure / "run", transformation, delivery centres across geographies) well enough to control it credibly and challenge its leaders.
  • Manage a large, fragmented cost base - handle a high volume of cost centres, cost types and intercompany / cross-border flows; keep opex versus capex and "run versus change / transformation" spend cleanly separated and understood.
  • Vendor & sourcing-spend controlling - partner with Procurement to control significant third-party spend: contract-cost tracking, commitment versus actuals, and identification of savings levers.
  • Service / unit costing & internal recharge - support cost transparency across the service catalogue and the recharge of COO costs to internal consumers / operating entities; make the cost-to-serve visible.
  • Project & portfolio controlling - track transformation and investment portfolios: budget versus actuals, forecast-to-complete, and benefit realisation.
  • Efficiency & cost-out tracking - set up and monitor cost-reduction programmes, validate savings, and ensure benefits are booked and sustained.
  • Bridge finance and operations - connect financial figures to operational KPIs (for example cost per unit of service, utilisation) so leadership sees not just what was spent but what it bought.

Why the COO area is demanding

Candidates should expect: many cost centres and stakeholders, a large mixed workforce (internal plus contractor), a substantial and volatile vendor cost base, ongoing transformation running in parallel with steady-state operations, and internal-recharge mechanics that require the numbers to be both accurate and defensible. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to impose structure on messy data are essential.

Required qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or comparable.
  • 7-10+ years in FP&A / controlling, with meaningful time in a large, matrixed, international organization; experience in IT, technology, shared-services or operations controlling is a strong advantage.
  • Proven command of the controlling toolkit: budgeting, rolling forecasts, variance analysis, cost allocation and recharge, business casing and scenario modelling.
  • Strong systems capability - SAP (CO/FI), a planning platform (for example SAP Analytics Cloud, advanced Excel, and BI (for example Power BI).
  • Demonstrated ability to control a complex, high-volume cost base and turn it into a clear leadership narrative.
  • Fluent English; German an advantage.

Skills & competencies

  • Analytical rigour - accurate, structured, comfortable with large and imperfect data sets.
  • Ownership & drive - takes end-to-end responsibility for the numbers and their story.
  • Influence without authority - credible challenger to senior function leaders; a business-partnering mindset.
  • Communication & storytelling - turns figures into insight and clear recommendations for a C-level audience.
  • Resilience under complexity - thrives when scope is broad, deadlines are tight and the environment keeps moving.
  • Collaboration - works closely with Accounting, Procurement, HR and the function offices.
