Guided by its mission to Make People and Nature Healthier Through Biotechnology, and its role as a well-recognized biotechnology company, GenScript has a team of approximately 6,165 employees and has served more than 200,000 customers across over 100 countries and regions.\nThe position reports to Automation Engineer and is responsible for technical support for laboratory automation platforms, including troubleshooting and equipment recovery at the Piscataway site of the GenScript Gene R&D department.\nResponsibilities:\nProvide daily technical support for laboratory automation platforms, including troubleshooting, problem diagnosis, repair, and equipment recovery.\nTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, sensor, robotic, communication, and basic software-related issues.\nSupport automation platforms such as Tecan, Hamilton, and other laboratory automation equipment.\nPerform routine preventive and corrective maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.\nConduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring or significant equipment failures and implement corrective actions.\nTrack recurring equipment issues and identify opportunities for reliability and performance improvement.\nMaintain equipment service history, maintenance records, troubleshooting records, and error information.\nBuild and maintain an Automation Knowledge Base, including common issues, troubleshooting procedures, root causes, corrective actions, recovery procedures, and Lessons Learned.\nDevelop and update SOPs, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance procedures to support long-term knowledge transfer.\nSupport equipment installation, commissioning, upgrades, modifications, and small automation improvement projects.\nWork closely with laboratory users to resolve equipment issues and improve daily automation platform operation.\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.\n1+ year of relevant engineering experience in equipment support, automation, maintenance, manufacturing, or a related technical environment.\nHands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical and/or electrical equipment.\nExperience reading technical manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.\nAbility to perform systematic troubleshooting and root cause analysis.\nStrong technical documentation and problem-solving skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with laboratory automation systems or automated life-science equipment.\nHands-on experience with Tecan and/or Hamilton automation platforms.\nExperience with liquid handlers, robotic arms, plate handlers, stackers, barcode scanners, sensors, motors, pneumatics, or similar automation components.\nExperience supporting equipment preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance.\nExperience creating troubleshooting guides, maintenance procedures, SOPs, or technical knowledge bases.\nBasic understanding of equipment communication, networking, TCP/IP, serial communication, or automation software is a plus.\nBasic programming or scripting experience is a plus.\nExperience in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.\nBenefit:\nMedical Insurance/ Vision Insurance/ Dental Insurance\n401(k) & Retirement Savings Plan (RSP)\nShort Term Disability Insurance\nNew Child Leave\nPaid Time Off\nPaid Company Holidays per year\nPaid Sick Days (earned based on hours worked)\nCompassionate Leave\nJury Duty Leave\nFloat day\nPersonal days\nCompensation:\nSalary range: $60,000 - $80,000, depending on experience and qualification\nBenefits:\nBenefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match that vests fully on day one.
