Join a company driven by quality products across an evolving range of industries.\nPOSITION OVERVIEW\nThe PCB Design Engineer II performs printed circuit board design to develop and launch new products. This position blends technical PCB layout expertise with problem solving, documentation, and collaboration, playing a critical role in hardware product development teams.\nLocation: This position requires on-site work at Gentex facilities. This role is not eligible for remote work.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO\nPerform Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design in a cross-functional engineering team to develop and launch new products with a high degree of independence.\nLeverage knowledge of PCB fabrication processes including lamination, imaging, etching, and drilling to create high reliability PCB designs for high-volume production.\nUtilize electrical CAD tools to perform PCB design for embedded applications.\nPlace and route high-density multi-layer PCBs, leveraging rigid, rigid-flex, flex, and HDI technologies to optimize signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management, manufacturability, and product reliability.\nWork closely with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to optimize product packaging and system integration in embedded applications.\nCoordinate cross-functional design reviews for printed circuit board layouts to ensure adherence to industry standards and suitability for manufacturing and test.\nCoordinate with PCB Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing personnel, Purchasing, and PCB vendors to optimize cost and continually improve design rules, constraints, and design for test and manufacturing guidelines.\nStay current with technology, manufacturing, and industry trends to drive continuous improvement of products, process, and methods.\nUtilize electronic design knowledge to support technical exchanges with external customers.\nCoach and mentor other Design Engineers, providing direction, and contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development. \nSupport the hiring process and onboarding of new team members.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nHOW YOU’LL DO IT\nAttention to Detail - Ensuring information is complete and accurate; following up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled.\nProblem Solving - Defining a problem, determining the cause, identifying, prioritizing and selecting alternatives for a solution, and implementing a solution.\nAnalytical Thinking - Tackling a problem by using a logical, systematic, and sequential approach.\nBuilding Collaborative Relationships - Developing, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships with others inside or outside the organization.\nCommunicating Effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey clear understanding, taking into account the unique needs of different audiences.\nFostering Teamwork - Building effective partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.\nMaintaining a high level of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality with respect to company matters.\nComplying with all company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace. \n\nWHAT TO BRING\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.\n2+ years of relevant professional working experience.\nWorking knowledge of IPC standards, automotive specifications, and high reliability PCB design practices\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.\n\nWHAT WILL HELP\nDesign experience using an electronic design CAD toolchain such as Xpedition, OrCAD, or Altium.\nProfessional experience in automotive new product development.\n Gentex is an equal opportunity employer\nGentex extends equal employment opportunities to qualified applicants and employees regardless of an individual’s race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), disability, marital status, military service, height, weight, genetic information, or any other reason protected by law.\nAssistance\nGentex is committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodation to applicants with disabilities.
