We are looking for a Dairy Genetic Programs Intern who will work with multiple teams within the Dairy Product Development area of the business. The Genetic Management System team supports our sales force by providing genetic tools and reports that help to keep and acquire ABS partner accounts. De Novo Genetics (ABS genetic nucleus) owns many of the world's elite Holstein females and produces genetically superior sires for ABS Global, Inc. ET and IVF assistance involves regular travel to our dairy genetic nucleus herd, primarily housed at the DeForest heifer facilities. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong organizational ability, and a willingness to travel locally.\nIn this position you will work 40 hours per week, typically during normal office hours, but times will range some on a day-to-day basis.\nThe hourly compensation for this position is $18 USD. The compensation provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Genus considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.\nThis position will close for applications on October 31st.\nYou Will\nAssist with reproductive days (primarily IVF) with our dairy genetic nucleus donor herd.\nSupport the Genetic Services team to align with customer expectations.\nPrepare data loads and process herd data through the GMS (Genetic Management System) computer program, providing professional and courteous service to internal and external customers.\nCreate reports and conduct data analysis to ensure herd information is processed accurately, minimizing turnaround time.\nMaintain an understanding of genetic science to problem-solve and meet customer requests.\nConduct farm visits to assist with trainings, customer meetings, and report presentations.\nInteract with the ABS Global Dairy Product Development team as needed.\nBe exposed to other departments during the internship, depending on interest.\nUphold the Genus core values, mission and vision.\nDemonstrate flexibility in responsibilities and contribute as a collaborative team member.\nShow initiative in skill development and openness to growth opportunities.\nEngage in training programs to enhance team-relevant capabilities.\nDevelop a strong understanding of the company’s business and the team’s impact.\nPosition may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours.\nPerforms other projects and responsibilities as assigned.\nRequirements\nQualifications\nBasic Qualifications: (required)\nPursuing a degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, Animal Breeding, Agricultural Business, Animal Genetics, or a related field.\nCurrently enrolled as a sophomore, junior, senior, or recent graduate at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.\nOver 1 year of practical experience handling dairy cattle.\nValid driver’s license.\nAvailable for 12 weeks during the summer.\nAuthorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with MS Excel.\nStrong communication skills and professional demeanor.\nSelf-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.\nWillingness to travel (approx. 40% travel, 60% office-based).\nHigh multi-tasking ability and strong organizational skills.\nBusiness Overview\nGenus is an agricultural biotechnology pioneer.
