The design challenge is real: AI agent behaviour is complex, often opaque, and the stakes for our customers are high.\nOur design team is small today; you'll report into our Head of Product Design and join two Product Designers. We have three development teams, growing to five, and we believe design works best embedded. You'll join one of those teams as its designer, working alongside its engineers and customers every day. Because we're still early, you'll also help set the foundation everything else is built on: the design language, the component library, and the patterns we use across the product. Our design team also looks after Geordie's brand, so you'll help shape how we show up beyond the product too, making sure brand and product feel like one coherent experience.\nDesign here isn't a layer applied at the end. We ship multiple times a day, and we actively encourage designers to use AI agents to write code and get closer to the product. If you've ever wanted to own something end to end, this is it.\nWhat You'll Do\nOwn the end-to-end design of core product experiences, from early concept through to shipped and iterated.\nHelp build Geordie's design system with the rest of the design team; the tokens, components, patterns, and documentation that everyone relies on, shaped by what your team needs.\nContribute to Geordie's brand; helping evolve our visual language, illustration, and assets so the product and brand tell one story.\nLead customer discovery and research; running interviews, identifying patterns, and bringing customer insight into every design decision.\nWork directly with customers to test your thinking early and close the loop between insight and shipped product.\nCollaborate daily with engineers; pairing, reviewing, and increasingly using AI tools to prototype and contribute to the codebase yourself.\nContribute to product direction: you will be in the room where decisions are made, not handed a spec to execute.\nKeep a strong point of view on what good design looks like in a security and governance product; clear, trustworthy, and built for expert users.\nWhat We're Looking For\nThe most important thing is that you care deeply about customers and can move fast without losing quality. You are a strong practitioner; you can go from whiteboard to high-fidelity quickly, and you know when each is appropriate.\nYou are comfortable with ambiguity. We are Series A, the product is evolving, and the domain of AI agent governance is genuinely new. You find that energising, not unsettling.\nYou have strong opinions about design systems and component architecture, and experience building or significantly contributing to one. You can articulate why decisions were made and defend them clearly.\nYou work well in a collaborative engineering culture. You are comfortable pair-designing with engineers, reviewing pull requests for design quality, and using AI tools to accelerate your own work.\nRequirements\nSignificant experience as a product designer, with a portfolio that demonstrates complex UX problem-solving; not just polished visuals.\nExperience designing highly complex B2B SaaS products, including data visualisation and data-dense interfaces; you can turn large volumes of information into something expert users can understand and act on.\nProven ability to work across the full design process: research, concept, detailed design, and handoff.\nStrong product thinking; you can define the problem, question the brief, and help decide what to build, not just how it should look.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills; you can align stakeholders, present work with clarity, and receive feedback well.\nComfortable working in a fast-moving, iterative environment where requirements evolve quickly.\nNice to Haves\nExperience designing for security, developer, or enterprise SaaS products.\nFamiliarity with AI agent tooling, observability platforms, or data-dense interfaces.\nExperience contributing to a design system, including tokens, components, and documentation.\nExperience working on brand or visual identity, such as illustration, iconography, or marketing design.\nExperience writing code, even basic frontend, or using AI tools to prototype in the browser.\nBackground working at an early-stage startup where you built things from scratch.\nWhy This Role\nAI agents are changing how companies operate, and the question of how to govern them safely is only going to grow.
