The Packaging and Crater I is responsible for building custom wooden crates, pallets, and protective packaging for piping systems, components, and other manufactured products. This position prepares fragile, oversized, and heavy products for safe handling, storage, and transportation while ensuring products are properly protected against damage during shipment.

Essential Duites & Responsibilities:
Build custom wooden crates, boxes, pallets, skids, and other shipping containers according to product dimensions and packaging requirements.
Measure products and packaging materials accurately using tape measures, rulers, squares, and other measuring tools.
Read and follow basic blueprints, drawings, work orders, and packaging instructions.
Operate hand and power tools, including saws, drills, nail guns, hammers, and other woodworking equipment.
Select and cut lumber, plywood, and other materials to required dimensions.
Wrap and secure fragile, heavy, or sensitive products using foam, bubble wrap, protective coverings, strapping, banding, and other cushioning materials.
Install blocking, bracing, supports, and restraints to prevent products from shifting or being damaged during transportation.
Inspect products and packaging for damage, proper fit, secure fastening, and overall quality before shipment.
Protect piping, fittings, valves, flanges, machined surfaces, and other components from scratches, impact, moisture, and other shipping hazards.
Assist with positioning, staging, loading, and securing packaged products for shipment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Follow company safety policies, PPE requirements, quality standards, and proper tool and equipment procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience in packaging, crating, shipping, warehousing, manufacturing, carpentry, or construction is preferred.
Entry-level candidates with relevant hands-on experience using hand tools or power tools may be considered.
Ability to read basic drawings, work orders, measurements, and packaging instructions.
Experience using tape measures, squares, saws, drills, nail guns, strapping tools, and other hand or power tools is desirable.
Basic knowledge of lumber, plywood, foam, protective packaging materials, and shipping methods is preferred.
Experience packaging large, heavy, fragile, or industrial products is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, and shipping environment.
Regular exposure to noise, dust, wood debris, machinery, and industrial equipment.
May work around large, heavy, oversized, and irregularly shaped piping systems and components.
Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling of materials.
May require working at elevated heights using ladders, scaffolding, or approved work platforms.
Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, eye protection, gloves, hearing protection, and other PPE as required.
Work may involve varying temperatures and conditions typical of industrial facilities and loading/shipping areas.
Requires compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and safe operating procedures.
May require overtime, extended hours, or schedule adjustments to meet production and shipping deadlines.
Salary Range: $20.20 - $23.25 (Based on Experience) + Bonus
