Responsibilities include curriculum design and review, instructional delivery, student advisement, budgeting, and oversight of adjunct faculty. The director ensures program quality, compliance with academic and accreditation standards, and alignment with WGTC policies and procedures. This position teaches a minimum of twenty (20) contact hours weekly per semester in day or evening courses. Additional duties include supporting recruitment, retention, and job placement initiatives; coordinating equipment and supply needs; maintaining required documentation and reports; and participating in college committees and professional development activities.\nRequired Education and Experience\nDiploma in Automotive Technology or related diploma/degree from an accredited institution.\n\nThree (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of experience in Automotive.\n\nThree (3) years of supervisory experience.\n\nMaster Technician ASE Certification* or ASE eligible.\n\nValid driver’s license.\n\n*Master Technician ASE certification is required within one (1) year of hire date.\nPreferred Education and Experience\nAssociate degree in Automotive Technology or related field from an accredited institution.\n\nTen (10) + years of in-field experience.\n\nDirectly related teaching experience at the post-secondary level.\n\nOnline teaching experience.\n\nKnowledge and experience in the use of technology: internet, email, Microsoft Office products, Knowledge Management System (KMS), Blackboard, Banner, Degree Works, and Task Stream.\n\nSpecial Instructions for Applicants\nTo be considered for this position, applicants must upload the following documents with the application.\nUnofficial transcripts from all accredited institutions.\n\nProof of ASE* certifications.\n\nDetailed resume\n\nUpon employment offer, a background check is required.\n\n*Master Technician ASE certification is required within one (1) year of hire date.\nInstruction\nProvides instruction in theory and practical applications of Automotive Technology in accordance with academic state standards.\n\nInstructs face-to-face, hybrid, or on-campus, as needed, in accordance with college faculty loads.\n\nInstructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry.\n\nUtilizes current technology in the classroom and lab.\n\nEvaluates student progress in attaining goals and objectives.\n\nGrades all coursework in a timely manner\n\nMeets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues.\n\nMaintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline.\n\nPrepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.\n\nMaintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Automotive Technology.\n\nAttends professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences.\n\nAdvises Dean and Associate Dean on creating course schedules.\n\nSafety and Technology\nEnsures safety and security requirements are met throughout the program area, including regular safety audits of campus labs and classrooms.\n\nSupports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order.\n\nSuggests new/updated technology to remain current with trends and developments within the field.\n\nEnsure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.\n\nEnsure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.\n\nEnsure work-related projects are completed and meet industry standards.\n\nCurriculum/Student and Program Learning Outcomes\nDevelops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives based on state standards.\n\nPrepares lesson plans for instruction of all program courses; evaluates student progress in meeting goals and objectives.\n\nEstablishes, measures, and evaluates program student learning outcomes and ensures content and instructional activities are integrated into course delivery that will result in student achievement of outcomes, maintains appropriate documentation and reporting of outcomes.\n\nAssists faculty in verifying program learning outcomes, including identification, review, revision, measurement, and analysis to support continuous improvement and compliance with assessment requirements.\n\nParticipates in the curriculum review process and recommends curriculum changes to maintain program quality and relevance.\n\nResponsible for the development and editing of Blackboard Master Course shells and master course syllabi.\n\nPeriodic revision and selection of course materials, textbooks, instructional aids, and online resources.\n\nReviews and revises programmatic handbooks and manuals.\n\nEnsures consistent application of academic policies, procedures, rules, and regulations across program and instructional areas.\n\nAccreditation/Program Assessment\nMaintains appropriate accreditation for the program; knows accreditation policies and procedures.\n\nSupports and assists faculty in maintaining program-specific accreditation, ensuring all required standards, documentation, and reporting are met continuously.\n\nRepresents WGTC at program Instructional Faculty Consortium Committee (IFCC) meetings.\n\nMaintains effective program operations and manages ongoing program assessment.\n\nManage and support all program faculty.\n\nCompletes adjunct faculty evaluations and conducts teaching observations annually.\n\nCoordinates the training of all program faculty.\n\nSupports Program, Division Deans, and Associate Deans\nPlans and participates in the program Advisory Committee, ensuring Meeting Minutes, Plan of Work, and Committee membership documents are uploaded to KnightroConnect promptly.\n\nConsults with Dean/Associate Dean on full-time and adjunct staffing needs.\n\nCoordinates and assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement.\n\nPlans and holds regular program faculty meetings.\n\nServes on committees and completes projects as assigned.\n\nParticipate in day/evening/distance learning professional development activities.\n\nReviews program budgets with faculty and ensures adherence to approved budget parameters and purchasing procedures.\n\nMonitors expenditures and facilitates procurement of necessary supplies and equipment in accordance with college and state guidelines.\n\nPrepare budget requests and place orders for needed supplies and equipment.\n\nCoordinates catalog reviews and ensures program information remains current and accurate.\n\nAssists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.\n\nServes on committees and completes project assignments as required.\n\nAcquires and maintains ASE Master Technician Certification.\n\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n\nCompetencies\nKnowledge of the mission of postsecondary technical education.\n\nKnowledge of WGTC, TSCG, and the State of GA purchasing policies and procedures.\n\nKnowledge of academic course standards and faculty credentialing requirements.\n\nKnowledge of West Georgia Technical College’s academic programs.\n\nSkill to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.\n\nSkill in the preparation and delivery of classroom and lab content.\n\nSkill to make timely decisions.\n\nSkill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.\n\nAbility to break larger tasks into manageable, smaller tasks.\n\nSkill in decision-making, problem-solving, and effective communication.\n\nSkill in accurate grading and record keeping.\n\nSkill in interpersonal relations and in interacting with the public.\n\nOral and written communication skills.\n\nWork Environment\nThis job operates in a professional classroom and lab environment. The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.\nPosition Type and Expected Hours of Work\nThis is a full-time instructional position. The workload is Monday through Friday, with day/evening hours (40 hours). Weekends are based on need.\nTeaching Load\nAll courses are face-to-face unless otherwise indicated. The Program Director's pay is based on a 40-hour work week with 20 hours of course contact per week.
