Following screening, candidates may be asked to submit further documentation.\nPOSITION DESCRIPTION:\nThis position is responsible for the technical equipment and systems used for safety and security on all campuses of the college, which include but are not limited to video surveillance cameras and cabling, intrusion detection systems, emergency notification systems, and wireless communication. The Specialist will work with appropriate Network personnel to identify needs, perform research, present alternatives, and then deploy, install, and configure equipment and systems. This position will also troubleshoot, repair, or replace defective or obsolete equipment and expand or modify installations as needed. This position will also train or arrange training for end users of the systems.\nMAJOR DUTIES:\nPRIMARY DUTIES:\nInstalls and configures equipment such as, but not limited to, cameras for surveillance systems, cabling, multiway communication devices, and alarm systems control panels and sensors.\nMaintains all safety and security technology equipment - including troubleshooting, reconfiguring, and ordering and installing repair parts as necessary.\nEnsures that safety and security systems operate in a consistent and reliable manner.\nMonitors system performance to ensure efficient operation, with no negative performance impact on or interruption of other systems of the college, such as email, Internet, and student records access.\nIdentifies the need for system upgrades as necessary to avoid obsolescence, system failures due to wear and age, and to improve the overall safety and security of the college campuses, faculty, students, staff, and guests.\nResponds to helpdesk requests by operators of installed safety and security equipment.\nMaintains an accurate inventory of all equipment related to safety and security systems.\nSECONDARY DUTIES\nIdentifies new systems and equipment, regarding technology, necessary for the safety and security of the college and its students, faculty, staff, and guests.\nPerforms research into alternatives available regarding technology solutions to safety and security needs, with an emphasis on camera surveillance systems.\nDrafts specifications for new equipment and systems for safety and security, ensuring interoperability and integration with existing systems across all campuses.\nProvides training on the effective use of safety and security systems.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nSPECIALIZED DUTIES\nResponds to the needs of the Network team including the Network Administrator, Network Engineer, and Unified Communications Engineer by assisting team members when necessary.\nAssists with maintaining an accurate inventory of all equipment related to Network and Unified Communications.\nAssists with deployment of equipment related to Network and Unified Communications as needed.\nPerforms other Network and Unified Communications related duties as assigned.\nMORALE, COMMUNICATION, COMPLIANCE\nResponds to the needs of the department and the college by assisting other team members when necessary.\nPosition may demand irregular hours to ensure equipment is installed, configured, and maintained in a manner to minimize the impact on the operations of the college on all campuses.\nundefined\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nAssociate degree *and* Three (3) years of work related experience.\nNote: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field of the position and sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.\nPossession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.\nSALARY/BENEFITS: $45,301.59 annually.
