The position is for evening classes held at the DeKalb Campus. Additional duties include student advising and mentoring, textbook selection, updating curriculum, and developing instructional materials. The instructor will report to the Division Chair of Industrial Technology and Professional Services.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:\nDiploma from an accredited postsecondary college\nMust hold a current Master Cosmetologist License issued by the Georgia Board of Cosmetology. License must be maintained throughout employment\nMust possess a comprehensive knowledge of current instructional techniques and technology\nMust demonstrate excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills\nA flexible work schedule is necessary, as classes may be taught during day, evening, and Saturday periods\nThree or more years, within the last seven, of paid in-field work experience in a salon and teaching experience in a secondary or postsecondary Cosmetology program\nStrong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Products\nStrong oral and written communication skills\nExcellent interpersonal and teamwork skills\nAbility to work flexible hours when necessary\nThe employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations of shears or other equipment used in the functioning of duties.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nA Master Cosmetology Instructor License\nExperience in teaching/advising/mentoring college-level students with broad, diverse backgrounds\nKnowledge and experience of online teaching with utilization of the Blackboard Learning Management System, preferred.\nActive participation in appropriate professional/occupational organizations\nThe candidate may hold a Master in Barbering License and Barbering Instructor.\nSALARY:\nThe salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nMinimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies.
