The Senior Scientist will contribute to, lead and develop work in the areas of human health risk, chemical hazard assessment, product safety, and regulatory support. The candidate is expected to work independently and collaboratively with scientists in several disciplines (e.g., toxicology, epidemiology, exposure science, human health risk assessment, industrial hygiene, chemistry, and engineering) and should enjoy fast-paced, technically challenging consulting work. Strong candidates will have experience developing and applying toxicological evidence to support systematic review, weight-of-evidence evaluation, regulatory comment, litigation support, product safety assessments, and human health risk assessment in the fields of environmental, dietary, pharmaceutical, pesticide, occupational, and consumer product toxicology. We offer competitive pay and benefits, and well-being programs to support you and your family.\nTo Learn More Visit: http://www.geosyntec.com/careers/.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nLead and take responsibility for projects involving toxicology, occupational health, litigation support, regulatory comment, product safety assessments, and site-specific human health risk assessment.\nActively engage in business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, building and maintaining client relationships, with the goal of developing an independent client base over time. Collaborate with Gradient and Geosyntec scientists on business development efforts; and specifically help grow our practice in the areas of risk assessment, food/food-contact, pesticides.\nQualitatively and quantitatively assess exposure and human health risks from chemicals in the environment and consumer products.\nPerform analyses including but not limited to systematic reviews, weight-of-evidence evaluations, hazard assessments, dose-response assessments, toxicity value derivation, and preparation of technical tables and summaries.\nConduct literature searches and critically review and evaluate toxicology, epidemiology, exposure, and regulatory science studies relevant to chemical safety and human health risk assessment.\nDemonstrate familiarity with state and federal government programs that develop, implement, or oversee health-based regulations, guidance, standards, and risk assessment frameworks relevant to chemical safety, hazardous waste, environmental health, occupational health, consumer products, and public health protection.\nContribute to and oversee the preparation of deliverables (reports, memoranda, proposals, agency comments).\nOversee projects of varying scopes and complexity, including establishing technical approach, establishing and meeting budget and deadlines, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, integrating input from toxicology, exposure assessment, epidemiology, risk assessment, engineering, and regulatory specialists, and ensuring that deliverables meet client, regulatory, and scientific expectations.\nEducation and Licensure\nBachelor's degree in science field, preferably biological sciences or related field. (required)\nAdvanced degree (g., M.S. or Ph.D.) in toxicology, pharmacology, environmental health, public health, or a related field. (preferred)\nSkills, Experience and Qualifications\nAt least 8 years (10+ preferred) of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nExceptional written and oral communication.\nStrong technical expertise in toxicology, including the ability to critically evaluate toxicological data, interpret dose-response information, and apply findings in human health risk assessment and regulatory contexts.\nExperience working in and with state and federal agencies, successfully leading projects that require collaboration between a variety of stakeholders. Demonstrated experience with and responsibility for scope, client communications, project deliverables, budget and deadlines.\nKnowledge of food, consumer or medical products, pharmaceutical, pesticide, chemical, occupational, or environmental regulations, including experience supporting regulatory submissions, agency comments, risk assessments, or compliance-related evaluations.\nDemonstrated ability, or strong interest, in business development, including preparing proposals, maintaining client relationships, and developing new clients and project opportunities.\nThis opportunity will be posted for at least five days.
