As our first dedicated QA professional, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape our quality-assurance processes, recommend suitable tools and establish practical testing standards in close cooperation with developers, project managers and domain experts.\nThe initial focus will be on manual testing, including the definition, execution and documentation of business-rule, functional, integration, regression, usability and performance tests. Over time, the role may expand into automated UI, API and regression testing and the integration of automated tests into our future CI/CD pipelines.\nOur applications are primarily browser-based and are mainly developed using Python, JavaScript, React, PostgreSQL/PostGIS and Mapbox, although our technology stack is not limited to these technologies.\nMany of our solutions are GIS-based and developed within national and European projects. The role will therefore include testing spatial data, map-based functionality and complex user workflows. Test plans, test cases and test results may also form part of formal project deliverables, making clear documentation and technical writing important aspects of the position. Previous GIS experience is an advantage but is not required.\nΑπαραίτητα Προσόντα:\nResponsibilities\nWork with developers and project managers to understand software requirements, business rules and acceptance criteria.\nHelp define the company’s overall QA approach as its first dedicated Software QA Engineer.\nDefine and maintain test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, checklists and reusable test datasets.\nPerform exploratory, functional, integration, system, regression, usability and user-acceptance testing.\nTranslate business requirements and domain-specific rules into clear, traceable and repeatable test cases.\nTest browser-based applications across supported browsers, screen sizes and operating environments.\nValidate GIS applications, including map interactions, spatial searches, filters, layers, styling, measurements, coordinate handling and data visualisation.\nTest REST APIs, data exchanges, databases and integrations between application components and external systems.\nValidate data integrity and application behaviour involving PostgreSQL/PostGIS and other data sources.\nPlan and execute load and performance tests, analyse results and communicate potential bottlenecks.\nReproduce, document, prioritise and track defects, providing clear steps, evidence, severity and expected behaviour.\nVerify fixes and conduct regression testing before releases, demonstrations and formal project reviews.\nContribute to release-readiness decisions by providing clear information about test coverage, open defects and quality risks.\nPrepare test reports and quality-assurance material for internal use and formal project deliverables.\nHelp establish consistent defect-management, test-management and release-validation processes across the Tech team.\nEvaluate and recommend testing and test-management tools suited to the team’s applications and workflows.\nGradually contribute to automated UI, API and regression testing.\nCollaborate with the Tech team on incorporating automated tests into future CI/CD pipelines.\nCore Qualifications for This Role\nAt least 2 years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing or a related technical role.\nStrong understanding of software-testing principles and the software development lifecycle.\nExperience designing and executing structured manual test cases.\nAbility to derive test scenarios from business requirements, functional specifications and user workflows.\nExperience with functional, integration, system, regression and exploratory testing.\nExperience testing browser-based applications across different browsers, screen sizes and environments.\nBasic understanding of mobile application and responsive-interface testing.\nBasic understanding of load and performance testing.\nExperience documenting, prioritising and tracking software defects.\nAbility to investigate unexpected behaviour methodically and communicate findings clearly.\nUnderstanding of web applications, client-server architecture, REST APIs, databases and browser developer tools.\nAbility to work collaboratively with developers, project managers and non-technical domain experts.\nAbility to work independently, take ownership and introduce practical QA processes within a team.\nStrong written and spoken communication skills in English.\nAttention to detail, organisation and a strong sense of ownership.\nNice to have\nExperience testing GIS, mapping, Earth Observation or other data-intensive applications.\nFamiliarity with GIS concepts such as coordinate reference systems, vector and raster data, spatial queries, map layers and geospatial file formats.\nFamiliarity with QGIS, PostGIS, Mapbox or common OGC services such as WMS, WFS and WMTS.\nFamiliarity with applications developed using Python, JavaScript and React.\nExperience testing REST APIs using Postman or a similar tool.\nExperience with load-testing tools such as JMeter or similar.\nExperience testing mobile applications using physical devices, emulators or cloud device-testing platforms.\nBasic scripting or programming knowledge in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python or another suitable language.\nFamiliarity with Git and CI/CD concepts.\nExperience producing test plans, test reports, technical documentation or formal project deliverables.\nPrevious involvement in European, research or publicly funded technology projects.\nAssets\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Geoinformatics or another related field.\nAbility to balance thorough testing with project schedules and delivery constraints.\nConfidence in proposing and establishing new processes in an environment where the QA practice is still
