If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!\n\nWhat you'll do:\nThe Senior Data Platform Developer supports the existing big data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform ensuring data is continuously and promptly available for analysis by the data science team. This position will devise new methodologies and infrastructure for reconstructing and enriching data at scale, while supporting internal users who leverage the big data environment to upload additional data sets.\n\nHow you'll make an impact\n\nDevelop and maintain new data infrastructure platforms managing the data ingestion, digestion, and stream processing of Geotab’s internal data lake. \n\nDevelop processes to enrich Geotab’s big data with telematics data at scale.\n\nDevelop processes and implement logging, monitoring, and alerting services to ensure the health of Geotab’s big data infrastructure.\n\nWork with data scientists to understand data processing needs and develop infrastructure solutions to support these initiatives.\n\nCreate and maintain documentation for architecture, requirements, and process flows.\n\nSupport internal Geotab teams to assist with data integration with newly developed big data platforms. \n\nParticipate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule (if applicable).\n\nWhat you'll bring to the role\n\nPost-secondary Degree specialization in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering or a related field.\n\n1-5 years experience in Data Engineering or a similar role. \n\n1-5 years experience in developing production-level systems using Java and Spring framework.\n\n1-3 years experience in designing, building and maintaining production-level application containerization, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.\n\nKnowledge of Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Ignite, Apache Airflow, Apache SuperSet, Apache Olingo, and DataHub is a big plus.\n\nKnowledge of gRPC, Protobuf, Apache Avro, Apache Beam is a plus.\n\nKnowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles.\n\nKnowledge of batch and streaming data architectures.\n\nExperience with API design and implementation.\n\nFamiliar with Big Data environments (e.g. Google BigQuery).\n\nExcellent oral and written communication skills.\n\nStrong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve well-judged decisions.\n\nHighly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.\n\nStrong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.\n\nEntrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.\n\nIf you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role!
