Whether you’re GB-qualified, a GIT, or an experienced Soils Technician, GeoTek wants to hear from you!\nSUMMARY:\nIndividuals will be expected to perform routine field test and collects samples. Responsible for performing work using proper procedures and accurate computations and preparing daily reports detailing activities. Prepares draft reports on test performed for review by supervisor.\nSUPERVISION EXERCISED/RECEIVED:\nImmediate Supervisor: Field Supervisor/Manager Direct Supervisory\nResponsibility: None\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:\nOperate in a safety sensitive position (Construction site), around heavy machinery with limited supervision.\nAbility to obtain and maintain various field certifications (through written and performance-based testing) as required by jurisdictional requirements to meet position requirements.\nEffectively communicate with Supervisor and Dispatch to obtain daily work assignments.\nConducts various field test tests and inspections on construction sites.\nManipulates various field equipment to perform routine testing, inspection, and sample collection including but not limited to nuclear gauge, shovel, sledgehammer.\nPerform physical testing, examinations, interpretations, and evaluations for a variety of residential and commercial projects.\nNavigate uneven terrain of constructions sites, including entering and exiting trenches with the use of a ladder.\nPrepares daily data reports of testing and inspection.\nCompetent in the performance of all tests and inspections assignment\nInform field representatives of observation and test results.\nCommute to and from job sites (1-2 hours of daily drive time)\nObtains proper field authorizations are signed by the client when required or when work beyond the original scope is requested.\nAdvises Supervisor or Project Manager of any changes in work scope or of any potential budget over runs.\nMaintains positive business relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors' material suppliers, etc.\nResponsible for care and maintenance assigned company equipment.\nDaily prepares and submits own time sheet for approval.\nMay be requested to train new personnel and review procedures of technicians.\nPerform other duties as assigned by management.\nEDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/REQUIRMENTS/LICENSE\nHigh school diploma or GED required.\nMinimum 2 years of grading/soils experience, or 1+ year of relevant experience with a degree in Geology/Earth Science or a related field.\nClark County Grading Level B (GB) qualification preferred; candidates with relevant experience who meet or are working toward GB qualifications are encouraged to apply.\nNuclear Density Gauge and ICC Soils certifications highly preferred.\nAdditional soils, materials testing, or special inspection certifications are a plus.\nMust have access to a truck, SUV, or van capable of transporting field equipment and material samples.\nVehicle reimbursement is provided for authorized use of a personal vehicle for company business.\nLicense: Valid/current state driver’s license.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nPerforming, general physical activities, talking, hearing and seeing. Driving, performing physical activity that requires moving one's whole body such as standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, feeling, reaching, lifting, grasping, twisting above the waist, bending at waist, repetitive hand and arm motion. Climb ladders, exertion of force, manipulation of hand and/or foot controls. Requires considerable use of the arms and legs, such as in the physical handling of materials. Must be able to consistently lift and/ or manipulate 25-75 pounds of material/equipment in an 8-hour period.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nMust be able to accomplish tasks under adverse weather and/or site conditions. Some positions may require working in confined space or climbing and working at above average heights.
