Each year, we transform millions of tons of scrap into steel that is used to build the future.\nJob Summary:\nPlan, lay out, and perform all operations required to install, troubleshoot, repair, construct, modify, calibrate, test, service, and program highly complex equipment in support of steel production operation and related plant facilities. Need to have knowledge of electrical and electronic wiring specification, properties of various materials, and the principles of operation and application of equipment.\nWhat Gerdau Offers You\nHourly Rate: $44.6228 / hour\nOvertime: weekly overtime opportunities\nShift Premiums: an average of $575/year in shift premiums\n Cost of Living: annual cost of living increases based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).\nHoliday: Paid Statutory Holidays\nHealth and dental benefits: 100% company sponsored\nBasic Life/Accidental Life Insurance\nPension/RSP Plan: up to 5% contribution from the Company with no mandatory employe contributions\nEmployee Assistance Program: 100% company sponsored\nTuition Reimbursement Program\nAnnual Tool Allowance: $200/year\nUniforms: 100% company provided\nPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:\nInstall, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems, using required knowledge and understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems/components, as well as how they operate.\nPerform rounds and check machinery to identify abnormalities and ensure that machine functions are operating within the normal specifications.\nExercise judgement when troubleshooting AC/DC motor controls, PLC, electrical drives, and all high-voltage systems at or below 600 volts.\nInspect and perform daily maintenance on all shop machinery, mobile equipment, HVAC Systems, PLC networks, and cranes, and repairs or replaces worn items as required.\nService the electrical aspect of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems as needed.\nLay out, install, and maintain a variety of complete electronically controlled equipment, such as rolling mill loop controls, secondary distribution centers, programmable sequences, and pulpit control panel.\nBalance loads and wire complex circuits.\nWork with related diagnostic equipment including digital voltmeter, paper recorder, multi-voltmeter, oscilloscope, and other electronic tools and equipment.\nMaintain specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and materials usage.\nInterpret schematics and blueprints at an intermediate level.\nProvide technical assistance to maintenance and production personnel as needed.\nAdditional Responsibilities:\nOperate mobile equipment to lift and transport materials, including cranes (includes rigging principles), man-lifts, and forklifts.\nEnsure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment to include fueling, cleaning, and checking /adding fluids as needed.\nFollow all PPE requirements and safety rules and guidelines for all tasks being performed.\nAssist in training of coworkers as needed.\nMaintain communication with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals.\nDemonstrate ability and willingness to work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.\nMaintain work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition.\nExhibit engagement in GBS tools and methodology.\nAssist maintenance personnel as needed.\nPerform all other duties as assigned.\nEducation/Experience:\nCertificate of Qualification (Industrial Electrician - 442A or Construction Electrician - 309A) as recognized by the Ontario College of Trades is required.\nIntermediate knowledge of AC/DC motor and drive theory and ability to troubleshoot with PLC.\nIntermediate drive knowledge, electrical controls, NFPA 70E, and high voltage power systems, with experience in ARC flash requirements\nStrong communication and work ethic, ability to work in a team and with other trades.\nDemonstrate basic computer skills, specifically, SAP experience.\nAdditional Information\nAll successful candidates must pass a post-medical and ergonomic assessment.\nBackground, education, and criminal record check will be performed.\nMust have the ability to work rotating shifts.\n\nIn Compliance with Ontario's Bill 190, we confirm that this posting represents a current, existing vacancy within our organization\nGerdau believes in equal employment opportunity related to all employees and applicants for employment.
