Join our team and play a key role in driving performance, developing employees, and supporting the production of high-quality steel products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nAbout the Role\nThe Melt Shop Production Shift Supervisor provides frontline leadership and guidance to create a safe, productive, and high-performing work environment within the Melt Shop. This position is responsible for driving results in safety, environmental compliance, quality, productivity, cost performance, and employee development through the continuous application of Gerdau Business System (GBS) principles.\nReporting directly to the Melt Shop Superintendent, this role serves as a key operational leader focused on standardizing processes, improving performance, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and promote a strong safety-first culture while ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.\nDrive operational excellence in safety, production, quality, cost, and people management.\nIdentify and implement opportunities to improve processes, products, equipment performance, and production efficiency.\nEnsure standard work practices and process standardization are consistently followed across the department.\nConduct audits, needs assessments, and coaching activities to support continuous improvement initiatives.\nLead and support training efforts, including ITS programs and employee development activities.\nChampion 5S and workplace organization initiatives to improve efficiency and safety.\nDevelop and implement cost-control, environmental, preventive maintenance, and safety improvement programs.\nCollaborate with production, maintenance, and leadership teams to achieve departmental and plant objectives.\nMentor and develop employees while promoting a culture of engagement, accountability, and performance.\nQualifications\nAssociate degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Material Science, or a related technical field preferred.\n4-6 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to process standardization, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.\nEquivalent manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.\nPrevious Melt Shop experience is required.\nStrong understanding of steel manufacturing processes, equipment, and heavy industrial operations.\nDemonstrated experience leading teams and driving operational improvements.\nAbility to train, coach, and develop employees at all levels.\nStrong communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.\nWorking knowledge of preventive maintenance, quality systems, safety programs, and continuous improvement principles.\nExperience applying Lean Manufacturing, GBS, 5S, or similar operational excellence methodologies is highly preferred.\nWhy Join Us?\nThis is an opportunity to make a direct impact on safety, production performance, and employee development at a leading steel manufacturing operation.
