The North American business divisions (Gerdau Long Steel North America and Gerdau Specialty Steel North America) produce long and special steel products for the agriculture, energy, industrial, automotive, and manufacturing markets. The use of this technology and its process makes our steel one of the greenest choices available.\nWHAT GERDAU OFFERS YOU:\n Hourly Rate Range: $33.30/hr - $44.10/hr (actual rate is dependent on applicant sponsored hours completed)\nOvertime: Overtime opportunities available\nShift Premiums: an average of $575/year in shift premiums.\n Cost of Living: Annual cost of living increases based on Consumer Price Index (CPI).\nVacation Bonus: 50% bonus when vacation is taken outside of prime vacation periods\nHolidays: Paid Statutory Holidays\nTools: Annual allowance of $150/year plus other Company supplied tools\nSafety Boot Allowance: 100% company provided.\nUniforms: 100% company provided.\nPension: up to 6% contribution from Company with no mandatory employee contributions.\nMedical Benefits: 100% company sponsored.\nFull Dental and Orthodontia Benefits: 100% company sponsored.\nEmployee Assistance Program: 100% company sponsored.\nWork Rotation: Rotation throughout all departments and areas to gain experience plant-wide\nWHAT YOU HAVE:\nMust be registered in an approved Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) - 433A apprenticeship program with Skilled Trades Ontario AND have passed both Level 1 and Level 2 of in-school training OR have a minimum of 4000 hours of documented apprenticeship employment experience.\nBe able to work in all areas in the plant and complete the Apprentice Rotation.\nBe able to work shift rotation (days/nights) as outlined in the Apprentice Training Schedule.\nHave experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred.\nDemonstrate mechanical aptitude, with exposure to Bearings, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Lubrication, Rotating Equipment.\nStrong communication and work ethic, ability to work in a team and with other trades\nADDITIONAL INFORMATION:\nBackground, education, and criminal record checks will be performed.\nAll successful candidates must pass a post-offer medical and ergonomic assessment.\nMust be able to work rotating shifts.\nMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:\nResponsible for working safely in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures.\nWork under the guidance of plant Supervisors and Journeyman skilled trades.\nWork toward completing hours for all competency skill sets as defined by Skilled Trades Ontario.\nInspect, install, repair, replace, adjust mechanical equipment in the plant.\nService the mechanical aspects of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.\nPerform preventative maintenance of production machinery to optimize machine efficiencies and equipment reliability.\nApply lubricants used in the preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment.\nReceive instructions, prints, and work orders, covering scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work.\nMaintain specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and materials usage on computerized maintenance management software (CMMS), work orders, logbooks, and checklists.\nPerform rounds and checks machinery condition using checklists or digital tools to identify abnormalities and ensure that machine functions are operating within the normal specifications.\nOperate power driven mobile equipment and ordinary crane hooking.\nIn Compliance with Ontario's Bill 190, we confirm that this posting represents a current, existing vacancy within our organization.\nGerdau believes in equal employment opportunity related to all employees and applicants for employment.
