Gesher’s workforce development, behavioral health, and inclusion programming serves all Metro Detroiters while meeting the needs of the Jewish community.\nVALUES: People First, Integrity, Forward Thinking, Kindness\nGENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION\nCareer Planner provides case management services to clients participating in career development, job training, and job placement activities funded under various grants including but not limited to WIOA, PATH, FAE&T and/or Wagner-Peyser. Together with the client, the Career Planner develops a service plan and delivers services which can include career planning, training, and supportive services to eliminate barriers and result in meaningful employment.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education, Business, HR or related field strongly preferred.\nOther: Facilitating Career Development (FCD) Certification and/or BSP Certified preferred. Proven ability to provide customer services to disadvantaged individuals. Ability to respond effectively to multiple requests and changing customer flow. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with participants, employers, public, and staff. Composition and computer skills sufficient to complete reports, letters, and data input tasks.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nProvide orientation to services and resources available in the center.\nAdvocate for and link customers to community services and assist in assessing available support services.\nDevelop, enhance, and deliver workshops for groups and individuals.\nMaintain and provide reports tracking customer information, attendance, and activity to ensure necessary services are received in accordance with funding source requirements.\nProvide support to customers in the resource center to register on Pure Michigan Talent Connect, develop resumes, complete applications, and register on online job databases.\nProvide intake and determine customer eligibility for services. Assist in setting short- and long-term goals. Monitor performance and program completion.\nAssess each assigned customer by examining their capabilities, needs, and vocational potential and create an Individual Success Strategy.\nAdminister and interpret vocational assessment tools such as CASAS, interest surveys, and standardized/validated aptitude tests and make appropriate employment and training recommendations.\nComplete all data entry, reporting, and documentation requirements in a timely and accurate manner. Data tracking systems may include OSMIS, Salesforce, and Pure Michigan Talent Connect.\nPartner with Business Relationship Coordinators to identify local employer and business needs and to develop on-the-job training and apprenticeship opportunities for job seekers.\nParticipate in networking and continuing education activities to improve service delivery and impact.\nOther duties as assigned.\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nEnvironmental Conditions:\nModerate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).\nAbility to work in a confined area.\nAbility to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.\nPhysical Requirements:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, and kneel to install computer equipment.\nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.\nLight to moderate lifting is required.\nAccommodations: As appropriate and fiscally reasonable.\nNON-EXEMPT\nThis position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.\nThe above job description is for general informational purposes only and is not intended to be all inclusive or limiting as to specific duties.
