Gesher’s workforce development, behavioral health, and inclusion programming serves all Metro Detroiters while meeting the needs of the Jewish community.\nGENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION\nThe janitor is primarily responsible for maintaining a clean facility by completing a variety of cleaning tasks.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEducation:\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent\nOther:\nDocumented and verifiable disability required\nAbility to pass a drug screen test per contract\nSix months related experience and/or documented training in janitorial field required\nMust be able to follow designated janitorial task sequences\nMust be able to follow verbal instructions\nWork involves ability to work flexible hours\nWork involves the ability to obtain police clearance or bonded\nWork involves ability to push and lift equipment, office furniture, and accessories weighing up to 50 pounds\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDust mop or sweep all non-carpeted floors; damp mop floors as needed or vacuum carpeting walk-off mats as applicable per schedule.\nEmpty waste receptacles and food containers, changing plastic liners as required.\nFill all dispensers, i.e., soap, toilet tissue, paper towels, sanitary napkins as per schedule.\nThoroughly clean and disinfect walls, doors, partitions, woodwork, and handrails in restrooms as specified.\nClean and disinfect waste receptacles and sanitary napkin containers as per schedule.\nClean and disinfect sinks, toilets and urinals.\nClean window glass and mirrors.\nCompletely dust all fixtures, ledges, edges, shelves, exposed pipes, high and low dusting, door frames, etc., as scheduled.\nSweep and damp mop toilet room floors with a germicidal solution as per schedule.\nClean and disinfect drinking fountains.\nClean window glass, inside and out in lobby areas and partition glass as assigned.\nPerform variable cleaning procedures as designated, i.e., coat racks, public telephone booth area, smoking shelters, kick plates and window hangings.\nRemove trash, rubbish and boxes from area to outside dumpster.\nSpot clean carpet, rugs, and walk-off mats as needed.\nEmpty and replace sand in urns as per schedule.\nWash entrances, steps, and platform as assigned.\nWash police entrances, dumpster areas, at buildings as assigned.\nVacuum/clean fabric chairs in conference rooms as assigned.\nPolish furniture as assigned.\nWash desk tables and tables where applicable per schedule.\nWash and dust blackboard, marker boards, and electronic blackboards per schedule.\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nEnvironmental conditions:\nModerate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).\nAbility to work in a confined area.\nAbility to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.\nPhysical requirements:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.\nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.\nLight to moderate lifting in required.\nMust pass required background check and drug tests (as required by contract).\nAccommodation(s):\nAs appropriate and fiscally reasonable.\nNON-EXEMPT\nThis position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.\nThe above job description is for general informational purposes only and is not intended to be all inclusive or limiting as to specific duties.
