The Fleet Manager is responsible for asset maintenance and performance, this includes tasks such as overseeing the preventative maintenance program, annual inspections in accordance with provincial requirements, and cost control measures associated with the fleet maintenance program and budget targets.\nKey Responsibilities:\nWork with the operational team to ensure equipment needs are met.\nResponsible for ensuring equipment meets the company fleet maintenance standards, following policies and local regulations.\nIdentify and develop plans to improve department procedures to maximize asset availability.\nEnsure employees comply with health and safety programs.\nAnalyze the fleet performance and make suggestions for improvements or purchases.\nReview of repairs performed by third parties or subcontractors on the company’s equipment.\nMonitor equipment utilization, ensuring adequate spare ratios, technician ratios and uptime is achieved.\nWork with Operations in the development of the budget for maintenance and replacement of equipment.\nComplete weekly reports for management including budgeting monthly spend and meeting due dates of reporting.\nEstablish various fleet management best practices to improve cost control.\nOversee personnel changes including hiring, training, and development of fleet department employees.\nEnsuring staff levels are met to achieve fleet maintenance requirements.\nPerform other related duties as required.\nRequirements:\nThe competencies for this position would be acquired through a Red Seal Interprovincial Ticket in commercial transport vehicle mechanics or a diploma/degree in a related mechanical field plus courses in supervisory techniques, and six (6) years previous experience in progressively responsible positions relating to commercial vehicle maintenance, which include supervisory experience with a multi-disciplined team with a broad knowledge of all aspects of mechanical, hydraulic and electronic repairs, trouble shooting, maintenance procedures and vehicle inspections, and ability to administer policies and procedures.\nTechnical/Functional Skills 4+ years of experience related to the heavy equipment industry, licensed journeyman ticket in heavy equipment or millwright is preferred but not required.\nMinimum 3+ years supervisory and people management with significant hands-on experience in leading maintenance teams.\nDemonstrated ability to create a culture of accountability and cross departmental teamwork.\nWillingness to travel throughout the region.\nExcellent communication skills, management of priorities and good organizational skills.\nAbility to deal with all levels of management.\nTactfully dispenses direct and actionable feedback; is open and direct with others.\nAbility to perform under pressure and in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.\nExperience in the Waste and Recycling Industry is an asset but not a requirement.\nIf you're ready to be part of a dynamic team and contribute to our commitment to sustainability, we invite you to apply!
