The holder is responsible for categorizing and processing incoming/outgoing liquid and solid waste streams. Processing could include bulking, pumping using a vacuum truck or waste disposal by chemical reaction. The position is responsible for ensuring documentation associated with the waste receiving, processing and transportation complies with the applicable provincial and federal regulations and legislation. The administrative duties include data entry and the generation of weekly and monthly waste inventories\nREPORTS TO\nContainerized Waste Supervisor\nLOCATION\nPickering, ON\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nMaintain up to date inventory of onsite waste\nCharacterization of waste based on field analyses\nLearn and Comply with all legislation regarding reg.347, TDG and WHIMIS\nSample waste material\nBulk Waste and lab pack materials\nBecome knowledgeable in the operation of a vacuum truck\nOperate forklift\nGeneral housekeeping\nLoad and unload trailers and box trucks\nGood understanding of potential chemical reactions (compatibility)\nGood understanding of performing chemical reactions (disposal)\nPerform equipment and facility inspections\nOther tasks as assigned\nMorning and afternoon rotational shift work required\nEducation, Credentials, Skills and Experience Required\nPost-Secondary education in Chemistry/Chemical Technology. Relevant work experience and/ or Internship in a related field will be considered\nCompetent computer skills (Google Sheets/Docs)\nStrong interpersonal skills\nMust be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment\nMust be extremely safety conscious and detail oriented\nStrong organizational and communication skills\nAbility to follow procedures and work with minimum supervision\nWilling to work overtime, alternate shifts and occasional weekends\n#GFLTalent\nWe thank you for your interest.
