Promote and manage effective and profitable operations and resource management, high production standards, a sound risk management program, and facilitate business expansion.Certain Essential Functions listed below may or may not be applicable to each General Manager position depending upon varying local organizational structure.\nKey Responsibilities:Oversee responsibilities and coordinate efforts of Facility Manager(s), Sales Manager or individual sales representative, Administrative personnel and Maintenance Manager.\nSustain a productive and motivated workforce by screening, selecting, hiring, training, developing and evaluating personnel required to meet service commitments.\nAdhere to all wage and hour laws and compensate personnel for services rendered in accordance with established guidelines.\nEstablish high appearance standards for all employees.\nEnsure safe working conditions for all jobs.\nImplement and promote Safety Program to recognize and reward productive and safe employees.\nPlan and route collection services to best utilize personnel and equipment.\nImplement corporate guidelines concerning the Preventive Maintenance program that reduces down time, improves image, reduces maintenance costs and results in lowest cost service delivery possible.\nEstablish an effective and productive container repair, delivery and switch-out program that promotes a positive image.\nDevelop and implement on-going cost control program that monitors buying practices of all supplies and services.\nEstablish production standards for each phase of operation.\nPromote an accident prevention program that seeks to reduce claims, avoid injury and recognize safe employees.\nEnter payroll into system on a bi-weekly basis.\nEnsure Operations Supervisors are utilizing the Full Route Roll-Off Dispatch system.\nUtilize Route Smart system to plan optimized compaction routes.\nEnsure commercial and residential route audits are completed on an annual basis.\nConduct Roll Off account profitability analysis semi-annually.\nEnsure that a purchase order system is used for all purchases and that clear guidelines are established for purchasing practices.\nEnsure that all services provided by the facility operation are billed and revenues are collected on a timely basis.\nReview profit and loss statements on a monthly basis and make adjustments as necessary to achieve desired results.\nDevelop an operations profit plan, which includes sources of income, cost of operations, growth objectives, productivity standards, profit margins desired (ROA, ROTSR, EBITDA), capital Requirements:, personnel needs and product or services profit margins desired.\nPartner with the Sales Manager and/or Sales Representative(s) to develop a sales forecast for each product or service\nEstablish pricing guidelines for each product/service.\nPromote a strong customer focus throughout the operation.\nManage the sales force in meeting objectives and establishing priorities.\nEnsure the sales team is using approved software to identify and track potential customers.\nSeek opportunities within both primary and secondary assigned market areas for growth and expansion to include contracts and acquisitions.\nIdentify and adjust to trends within market area which impact quality of service or desired profit margins.\nEstablish system for reviewing and negotiating existing contracts.\nParticipate in local civic affairs and represent the company in a positive manner throughout the community.\nConform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.\nPerform other job-related duties as assigned\nRequirements:\nBachelor's Degree from four (4) year college or university and/or have a demonstrated track record of serving in an operational environment requiring analytical and general management skills.\nFive (5) or more years experience in the waste industry preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nWorking knowledge of the equipment required to collect, process or dispose of collected waste material.\nPossess excellent leadership, communication and management skills.\nPossess ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instruction and procedure manuals, routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively.\nAbility to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 20 pounds\nSome travel required - amount of travel will depend upon local organizational structure.\nPhysical/Mental Demands:\nAbility to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear\nAbility to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 20 pounds\nWorking Conditions:\nWork in indoor office environment 80% of the time.\nOccasionally work in harsh outside weather conditions, including but no limited to hot, wet and cold weather.\nNoise level is usually moderate.\n• Some travel required -
